Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier, former Haitian dictator, thought it would be a sweet idea to drop by Haiti after years in exile. A judge and prosecutor thought it would be a sweet idea to go to the hotel he’s staying at and are, as we speak, having some sort of chit chat with him, likely of a legal nature. Has he been arrested? Will he be arrested? No one knows yet, but there are a lot of people who hope he leaves the place in cuffs. From CNN

Michele Montas, a Haitian journalist and a former spokeswoman for the United Nations secretary-general, said Monday night that she plans to file a criminal complaint against Duvalier.

“We have enough proof. There are enough people who can testify. And what I will do is go to a public prosecutor and there is a public prosecutor that could actually accommodate our complaints,” she told CNN’s “Parker Spitzer.”

Under Duvalier’s presidency, thousands were killed and tortured, and hundreds of thousands of Haitians fled into exile, according to Human Rights Watch.

Baby Doc apparently didn’t get the memo about never returning to places where a number of people want to see you arrested–or worse–even if its been a whole twenty-five years and even if said place has been devastated by an earthquake in the last year.

Maybe they don’t have fax machines in exile?
