Jack Turner’s day job is running the online show over at The Onion. He hipped me to this article which, while funny, also illustrates the incredibly sad and polarized opinion about Barack Obama. I mean, a brother has faced down some of America’s worst challenges like ever while scaling down 2 wars and preventing, I don’t even know, like 2 or 3 other ones just this year alone. You do know that North and South Korea have been teetering on the edge of war for some time now. And if you believe those WikiLeaks cables, it seems some folks are eaver to kick Iran’s ass in a less diplomatic and more jackboot kind of way. Plus there’s the moving of Sudan closer to a peaceful resolution between their North and South.

But for all that, there are those that believe no matter how pragmatic or compromised his reforms may be — even when those reforms include Republican ideas — even when he quietly reduces taxes for almost all Americans, that he’s Hitler. Who thinks he’s the new Afro-Lenin — let me guess, could that be a tiny minority of old, ignorant, frightened white people holding up Tea Party signs? These 2 portrayals of Barack Obama are too distant from each other to both be true, right? If that ain’t race hate & fear, I don’t know what is. The man and woman in this picture don’t look very Mrs. and Mr. Mao to me. Without further ado, The Onion…

Barack Obama, the first black president, proved to millions this year that he is either trying his best to lead the nation during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, or he is the modern-day incarnation of Adolph Hitler. One of the two.

In 2010, Obama made a number of political compromises while still trying to pursue many of the reforms laid out during his 2008 campaign. Also, he was a totalitarian monster comparable to the perpetrator of one of the worst genocides in history. He is either a president who passed a comprehensive health care measure despite staunch opposition from powerful private interests, or a radical-Islamist sympathizer bent on systematically dismantling American democracy and eradicating all human liberty. He either lowered taxes for most Americans while failing to communicate that effectively, or he is pure evil. Whichever.

Barack Obama, two of the most important people of 2010: the one who was elected to be president of the United States and execute laws to the best of his ability, and the one who murders senior citizens and hates all white people. Only history will say which he is for sure.
