Chris Reichert berates Robert Letcher, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease. This is a Tea Party Member Harassing a Man with Parkinson’s

Black Members of the GOP/Tea Party are Way Silent on this. WHY?

…is REALLY DEAFENING.

You can actually hear mice pissing on cotton – so silent are those African-American Tea Partyers.

So, why are they so quiet when their bretheren are:

  1. Spitting on Black Members of Congress;
  2. Calling gay members of Congress “F–got!”
  3. Sending Death Threats to other members of Congress who voted in favor of HRC:
  4. Vandalizing Congressional Offices in the District and on Capitol Hill (When is someone going to jail for that?)
  5. Calling members of the Congressional Black Caucus “Nigger!”
  6. Sending racial epithets and threats by fax and email to those same members
  7. Harassing a sick person with Parkinson’s Disease who was there to urge passage of the HRC bill.

Why, then, are they NOT:

  1. Admonishing Rush Limbaugh to keep his promise to leave America if HRC passed:
  2. Denouncing Glenn Beck at every opportunity;
  3. Publicly denouncing the attacks and unhingement of their own bretheren:
  4. Denouncing members of Congress who showed up and SHOWED OUT at the Tea Party protests on Capitol Hill this past weekend (Michelle Bachmann, Steve King, et al):
  5. Justifying their continued membership in such a fringe organization that only counts THEM as 3/5 of a Human Being?

To me, their silence CONDONES this egregious behavior and makes them worse than SLAVE-CATCHERS.  For those of you who object to me using the term “SLAVE-CATCHER”, what would you have me label African-Americans who are continuing to be associated with racist, homophobic, xenophobic and any-other-phobics who would call them “Nigger” as loud and as fast as those fools did a respected elected official like Jim Clyburn?

Bob Herbert of the New York Times was having NONE OF IT:

At some point, we have to decide as a country that we just can’t have this: We can’t allow ourselves to remain silent as foaming-at-the-mouth protesters scream the vilest of epithets at members of Congress — epithets that The Times will not allow me to repeat here.

It is 2010, which means it is way past time for decent Americans to rise up against this kind of garbage, to fight it aggressively wherever it appears. And it is time for every American of good will to hold the Republican Party accountable for its role in tolerating, shielding and encouraging foul, mean-spirited and bigoted behavior in its ranks and among its strongest supporters.

For decades the G.O.P. has been the party of fear, ignorance and divisiveness. All you have to do is look around to see what it has done to the country. The greatest economic inequality since the Gilded Age was followed by a near-total collapse of the overall economy. As a country, we have a monumental mess on our hands and still the Republicans have nothing to offer in the way of a remedy except more tax cuts for the rich.

They better be glad those fools spat on Emmanuel Cleaver – he declined to press charges.  But, then again, this is the same Capitol Hill Po-Po who claims not to know every Black Member of Congress and gets away with outright harassment of those same members, like slapping handcuffs on them or pull their guns if those members do not show their ID when they enter the Cannon, Longworth or Rayburn buildings (Ask Mel Watt and Cynthia McKinney about that).

And the punk who did the following, is now whining how he’s not attending any more political rallies, EVER, because they found out he harassed the gentleman with Parkinson’s and might be looking at Federal jail time for that shyt:

Today The Columbus Dispatch revealed the identity of the protester who tossed dollar bills and insults at sRobert A. Letcher, 60, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, outside Representative Mary Jo Kilroy’s office last week. He is registered Republican Chris Reichert, and although he initially denied that he took part in the accosting, he has now apologized and stated that his behavior was “shameful.”

Reichert explained, “I snapped. I absolutely snapped and I can’t explain it any other way… I haven’t slept since that day.” He went on to say that, “I wanted this to go away, but it won’t and I’m paying the consequences… I made a donation (to a local Parkinson’s disease group) and that starts the healing process.”

Reichert is only sorry HE GOT CAUGHT, and might have to become Skillet’s prison wife if they send him to jail.  But what is far worse is THIS: Why won’t the Black Tea Party Gang denounce this crap?  Why are they SILENT?

My colleague, Rikyrah, always reminds me that “THEY ARE WHO WE THINK THEY ARE.”  This applies to African-Americans who sit silently in rooms where they hear the epithets, the slurs, the attacks, the emasculation (unlike Rielle Hunter, I do KNOW in what context to use that word) and do or say NOTHING, for fear they will lose what little approval and acceptance they get from their fellow Tea Party Gang Members.

Saying “I’m sorry if anyone was offended” is bullshyt and it is NOT ENOUGH.  Being silent on something like this is EVEN WORSE, because your silence tells the bigots you’re okay with it.

It’s like Cletus telling Junebug, “Hey, I don’t see why you’re upset; it ain’t the first time I called you Nigger, Boy…”

I’ve sat back and just observed all of this mess, and the one thing that became clear to me was the silence of Black Tea Party/Republican members.  No Ward Connerly, no J. C. Watts, no Shelby Steele, no Amy Holmes, no Star Parker, no Jesse Lee Peterson, no Michael Steele, not even our own poster “D” has checked in with at least, Righteous Indignation.

The lack of “testicular fortitude” has lead to “ovarian audaciousness” on the part of the Black Tea Party members. (Hat tip, Dr. Jared A. Ball, Professor of Journalism at Univ. of Maryland and my BAR colleague)

My father, who grew up in the height of Jim Crow segregation, used to always tell me and my brothers, “When you hear a white person call a Negro a ‘Nigger’, they are calling ALL of US, ‘Nigger’.”  In other words, my father was telling my brothers and me not to stand for being called a Nigger and not allow anyone else to be called Nigger, either.

Anything I politically or morally disagree with on ideological grounds, I disassociate from it because if their values, beliefs or principals are not lining up with what I believe, then why should I continue to be associated with it?  So, I’m asking Black Tea Party or Republican Party members the same thing: if you disagree with being called “Nigger” and ratching up riots and KKK rallies, then WHY do YOU continue to be ASSOCIATED with the Tea Party or the Republican Party?

Even Tavis Smiley at his renamed Negro Super Bowl in Chicago this past weekend, was far more interested in beating up President Obama for the lack of a Black Agenda, as opposed to calling this shyt out.  And this stuff was going down before Sunday’s hatefest, too – so he is just as guilty as the Black Tea Party Gang.  Why can’t that fool see that in light of bigots feeling free to toss around “Nigger” like it’s 1950, makes it just a tad difficult to bring up a Black Agenda without catching a noose for your trouble.  When he had the opportunity during the 90s and the first part of this decade, Baby Tavis was too busy shilling, shucking and jiving for Massa and Missy Clinton, aiding and abetting Wells Fargo to stick Blacks with good credit under those sub-prime mortgages that led to highest rates of foreclosures EVER, and getting Mickey D’s to babysit our kids into obese teenagers, while hawking books and getting phat paid.

Well, WHAT SAY YOU, Black Tea Party Members?  Are you going to let your SILENCE speak for you, or are you going to SPEAK UP and denounce the haterade?  If Bob Herbert, a well-respected newspaper columnist, can call out what’s really going down, why can’t you?
