What’s hot in hip hop right now? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Turns out it’s easy being green if you’re black…

From AllHipHop.com:

Rap pioneer and human beat boxer Biz Markie has signed on for the Hip Hop Caucus Clean Energy Now! Bus tour, which kicks off today (February 18) in New Orleans.

The Hip Hop Caucus teamed with The Alliance for Climate Protection’s Repower America campaign to coordinate the tour, which will also feature appearances by D. Woods, actress Gloria Reuben and EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson.

The tour’s goal is to further encourage various urban communities to call on local politicians to support a clean energy economy.

The tour, which also includes round tables on college campuses and community rallies, will make stop sin Little Rock, Columbia, Missouri, Washington DC and other markets.

That’s right — Biz is going old skool on climate change. And you say he’s just a friend…

That’s not all! Just yesterday multi-platinum pop/hip hop superstars The Black Eyed Peas are teaming up with Green for All on their upcoming tour to promote green jobs and a green economy. That is so hot!

From the Green for All website (photo below includes Will.I.Am and Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins – JJP guest blogger!):

Green For All will be joining forces with the Black Eyed Peas on their 2010 The E.N.D. Tour to change the face of environmentalism and educate audiences across the country on the benefits of a clean energy economy.

The tour partnership will kick off in Washington D.C. on February 23rdand we’ll travel with the band for 23 cities across the country providing educational awareness, advocacy opportunities, and online viral media outreach.

Green For All is a national organization working to build an inclusive green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty.

Who says black ain’t green? Not only are we interested in a positive planet, but we are green and gettin’ all up in your grill. Deal with it.
