Apparently Michael Jackson’s funeral is much much bigger news than President Obama’s  effort in Russia to reduce nuclear weapons in the world and his meetings with Russian leaders. Or the massive Uighur protests in western China. I’ve got mixed feelings about that.

Obama said to Jake Tapper while in Russia on ABC:

“This is part of American culture. Michael Jackson, like Elvis, like Sinatra…when someone who’s captivated the imagination of the country for that long passes away, you know…people pay attention. And I assume at some point, people will start focusing again on things like nuclear weapons.”

It must be tough to play second fiddle to a pop icon who hadn’t had a top 10 hit in many years.
