UPDATE: There’s a petition supporting Notre Dame and Barack Obama as commencement speaker at WeSupportNotreDame.org. It’s got over 35,000 sigs, including mine. Please join me. There’s also 2 Facebook groups: We Will Be Honored to Have President Obama at Notre Dame Facebook group and Notre Dame Alums in Support of Fr. Jenkins Facebook group. Show some love, y’all.

The Catholic press and many Church leaders were vehemently anti-Obama during the 2008 election cycle and they haven’t backed down. And they’ve recruited regular race-traitor & Bond movie villain Dr. Alan Keyes as their spokesmodel. Above is a video of Keyes getting arrested at a Notre Dame protest while pushing strollers filled with bloodied baby dolls. Psycho, much? (Here’s a timeline of Keyes’ crazy history stalking Obama while powered by conservative nut money that’s actually entertaining in a way.)

Their radical position is sadly not in line with most Catholics’ views who prefer to treat the elected leader of our nation with some respect. According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, 54 percent of Catholics voted for Obama in 2008, about the same amount as those who voted for Bush back in 2004. Look, my aunt is a Dominican nun who was one of the 5 black people in America who voted for John McCain and even she’s come around to support Obama.

From CNN Political Ticker:

An overwhelming majority of Catholic voters say the University of Notre Dame should not revoke its invitation for President Obama to speak at the school’s commencement ceremonies this weekend.

In a new survey released by Quinnipiac University, 60 percent of Catholic voters are against rescinding the invitation while 34 percent are for it. Among voters as a whole, 56 percent don’t think the Catholic school should take back the invite while 31 percent do.

Some Notre Dame Students and alumni have expressed outrage the Catholic school invited Obama to be the commence speaker because of the president’s views on abortion and stem cell research.

About 65,000 people have also signed an online petition protesting the address, saying his views “directly contradict” Catholic teachings.

Just so we’re clear, it’s ok if someone like Bush or Cheney whose actions have needlessly killed around a hundred thousand Iraqi civilians speaks, but not Obama? Never heard quite this much fuss over Bill Clinton who’s also pro-choice. Naw… what’s really up here?

If you want to take a good hard look at Krazy, Klanny and Racist, I suggest you head on down to StopObamaNotreDame.com.  Here’s the very first text you will read there (smells like racism to me!):

Official Text of Obama’s Honorary Doctorate“At the 164th Commencement The May Exercises
The University of Notre Dame Confers the degree of
Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, on the 44th president of the United States, whose historic election opened a new era of hope in a country long divided by its history of slavery and racism. A community organizer who honed his advocacy for the poor, the marginalized and the worker in the streets of Chicago, he now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good. Through his willingness to engage with those who disagree with him and encourage people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate, he is inspiring this nation to heal its divisions of religion, culture, race and politics in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.

On Barack H. Obama, Washington, District of Columbia”

God have mercy on their souls!

Um, wow. Shame on Alan Keyes for associating with these deranged, confused people and for (no doubt) taking their money.
