A friend over at Amnesty International sent me this video with music from State Radio. It’s the story (short version) of Troy Davis whose justice has been trampled upon. Just another black man on death row who shouldn’t be there. 7 of 9 witnesses have recanted their testimony. Of the remaining 2, one is implicated in the crime. No new trial has been ordered on the new evidence. Naw, cuz you know, it’s just easier to kill Troy. All the paperwork’s been done, somebody needs to pay for the crime plus some cops and attorneys might get all embarrassed cuz they was wrong. Why rock the boat?

Hmmm.

I know that we’re all focused on the economic stimulus, but this is a famous case that exemplifies how America’s in-justice system works in an inhumane, discriminatory and wasteful manner. Especially when it comes to African-Americans. Please if you have a moment to speak up for someone who otherwise might pay the ultimate price for a crime he didn’t commit just because he’s a black man trapped in a system that doesn’t care enough. Send the governor of Georgia, Sonny Perdue, a message of support for Troy. Here at JJP, we care. A decision in Troy’s case could come at any time now.

Keep up with Davis’ story at http://www.amnestyusa.org/troydavis.
