A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
Former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, actually did what the pundits predicted he’d do.
He endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for POTUS. More below:
“And I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities — and you have to take that into account — as well as his substance — he has both style and substance, he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president.”
Let me just say that I was skeptical about Powell handing over an endorsement. And, after he flew to Alaska to give character testimony in the trial of Alaska’s super-corrupt senior Senator Ted Stevens, I was in the crowd of “Obama can do without Powell’s testimony.”
However, now that it’s been given, I don’t see how Grumpy McCain overcomes this, except to flat out steal the election. He’s already trying to play it down:
McCain, appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” sought to minimize the endorsement by noting his support from other former secretaries of state and retired military flag officers.
“It doesn’t come as a surprise,” McCain said. “I’m very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state, well over 200 retired generals and admirals. I’ve admired and continue to respect Secretary Powell.”
Yeah, Grampy, but who are those four former Secretaries of State? Yeah, I can’t remember, either.
Look for Colin Powell to get slung under the bus by the ReThug Party; a place they’ve slung him under for so long, he probably could write a book titled “Life Under The Bus.”
