A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics

If I had more time, I would dig into just what is meant by “fundamentals.” I assume it’s a composite of savings rate, unemployment, business investment, home starts, real income, debt and (ideally) sustainability and long term stability.
But I don’t have time. I just have a feeling that John McCain doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that America’s “economy” per se is a series of abstracted transactions so complex even the genius bankers in charge have no idea what they sell anymore.
I just have a feeling that if America were at a bar and another country met us and asked, “what do you do for a living” America wouldn’t have much of substance to say. “We’re in marketing” might be as good as we could get.
We’ve leveraged our economy and energy situation to such a precarious point that the fundamentals probably don’t even exist anymore, and certainly they are not “strong.”
