A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
Thought a few of these links might be of interest to some of y’all.
John McCain is so very old. Older than penicillin. And Alaska. And Israel.
The AKA sorority turns 100 with 25,000 sorors of all ages attending the celebration. My family are mostly Deltas and Kappas. Still, gotta recognize.
Rep. Tom Coburn (R-OK) finally released his singular block on Rep. John Lewis’ (D-GA) legislation to create a Justice Department unit prosecuting pre-1970 civil rights and lynching cases. In most cases, everyone in town knows exactly who the culprits are. It takes an outside investigation to remove the lynchers’ local protection from sympathetic authorities and make sure justice is done. The measure was originally passed 422-2.
The International Criminal Court has filed genocide charges against Sudan’s president for the regime’s systematic five-year campaign of violence in Darfur. Not sure what took them so long exactly.
A Free Press opinion piece purports to be written by a black teenager. Why My First Vote Will Go to John McCain reads more like it’s written by a conservative Caucasian housewife/activist trying to sound like her daughter’s black best friend. Here’s the money quote:
If I remember correctly, Adolph Hitler and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick convinced mass numbers of people that they were respectable through dialogue. In no way do I mean to compare Obama to the likes of such immoral men, but let’s just be honest — you cannot judge someone based on what he says.
Hitler evoked in the same breath as Obama from a young African-American? I smell a planted and fake as a $2 bill article.
