A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
Actually, I’m from Oakland, but the sentiment is there, and I miss the times when the people come together in protest of the Government. The Bay Area is the first part of the country to demand George Bush be impeached; they demanded an exit from Iraq as far back as 2002. In fact, the history of the San Francisco Bay Area is anti-war, and truly progressive in every sense of the word.
Which is why I’m watching the Nancy Pelosi-Cindy Sheehan contest very closely. Sheehan may lose, but I think she will send Madame Speaker back to DC considerably weakened, after taking Impeachment of GeeShrubya off the table and all, and basically ignoring and pissing off her constituents. But, that’s not what I’m writing about.
I’m writing about the fact that the City By the Bay has finally found something to name after President George W. Bush, and it may well be appropriate:
The above picture is that of a sewage plant. And the citizens of San Francisco are taking steps to putting on the November ballot an initiative that, should it pass, officially name the sewage plant after the 43rd President of the United States.
And since he’s worried about his “legacy” as POTUS, there’s nothing better to honor that “legacy” than to name a shythole after him. Pretty representative of the eight years he’s had to turn America into the biggest shythole on the face of the earth.
My hat tip to Crooks and Liars – who are San Francisco/Los Angeles-based.
