A black bourgeoisie perspective on U.S. politics
That’s the line that leaked from a private meeting that took place between Senator Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus last week.
As reported by TheHill.com, the meeting was apparently arranged to help the Clinton wing of the CBC heal some of its old wounds and get on with the program.
But, in what’s been described as a “lively” encounter, Senator Obama was reportedly frustrated to find that some CBC members were still dragging their feet. Former Clinton supporter, Rep. Diane Watson (D-Calif.), suggested that the Party still needed more time to heal. That drew the following response from Obama.
via TheHill.com:
“I bit my tongue many times. Many times. I bit my tongue many times during this campaign,” Obama told his colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) last week during a private meeting. He repeated the “I bit my tongue” phrase three times during the meeting, the sources said.
Oh boy. . . what I wouldn’t give to have been a fly on that wall.
“I bit my tongue.” Wow. . .if that’s not the understatement of the 2008 campaign then I don’t know what is.
Be honest, how many times did you want to see Obama expose the skeletons in Hillary’s closet? How many times did you sit through a debate grasping a list of every scandal and shady deal ever associated with the Clintons, just hoping to see Obama throw one back at her each time she decided to go into her “shame on you” attack?
To be honest, a part of me is still shocked that Obama beat both Clintons with kid-gloves on.
Who knows how heated it really got in that CBC meeting. But it’s sad to think that, on the verge of history, some in the CBC might mourn the defeat of Hillary Clinton MORE than they celebrate the triumph of one of their own members. Not a good look for our beloved Congressional Black Caucus.
Message to the CBC: Believe it or not . . .there is life after the Clintons. Time to move on!
Something tells me Obama had a lot more to say in that meeting than just, “I bit my tongue.”
So let’s have some fun with this, JJP. Look inside your crystal ball and tell me what you think Obama really said during that meeting.
