NYT:

Holocaust deniers and skeptics from around the world gathered at a government-sponsored conference here today to discuss their theories about whether six million Jews were indeed killed by the Nazis during World War II and whether gas chambers existed.

In a speech opening the two-day conference, Rasoul Mousavi, head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies, which organized the event, said it was an opportunity for scholars to discuss the subject “away from Western taboos and the restriction imposed on them in Europe.”

This type of behavior does not bode well. Many might remember the Taliban’s blowing up of Afghanistan’s world-famous ancient Buddhas in March 2001 within their borders despite international pressure and even offers of aid to leave them be. That was a shot across the world’s bow. A bid for attention and a warning from a pack of bullies who were so successful oppressing within their own borders with impunity that they felt free exported their hatred on 9/11/2001.

So is this. Oh and by the by, David Duke — former KKK leader, elected official and presidential candidate — is one of the keynote speakers. People who hate one group tend to find warm bedfellows with other haters. Take note, my friends. Hate has a new more aggressive face and some new friends. From David Duke’s self-published speech in Tehran today:

But, we at this conference have decided that no longer will we let the Zionists dictate to us. They shall not dictate to us who will be our friends, who will be our enemies, nor will we permit them to dictate to us only their version of the past, and we will certainly not let them dictate our future!

Let me say from the outset that I am no disloyal American, I love my country and my people, but I know that the Zionist extremists lead my country to catastrophe in the Mideast and elsewhere around the world. I know that the Palestinian people, the Lebanese people, even the American people have been sacrificed on the altar of the Holocaust. It is the chronic media and government playing of the Holocaust that has blinded our eyes to new holocausts and new outrages.
