And you KNOW who you are.  Roger Ebert just issued a call out.  Either you provide proof that the President is a Muslim or STHU.  Especially those who would rather lead the sheeple by innuendo, as opposed to bothersome things, like, well, FACTS (h/t Daily Kos):

The time is here for responsible Americans to put up or shut up. I refer specifically to those who have credibility among the guileless and credulous citizens who have been infected with notions so carefully nurtured. We cannot afford to allow the next election to proceed under a cloud of falsehood and delusion.

We know, because they’ve said so publicly, that George W. Bush, his father and Sen. John McCain do not believe Obama is a Muslim. This is the time — now, not later — for them to repeat that belief in a joint statement. Other prominent Republicans such as Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul also certainly do not believe it. They have a responsibility to make that clear by subscribing to the statement. Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh must join, or let their silence indict them. Limbaugh in particular must cease his innuendos and say, flat out, whether he believes the President is a Muslim or not. Yes or no. Does he have evidence, or does he have none? Yes or no.

We know if the facts are actually put out there for a thinking individual to determine for HIMSELF whether or not President Obama is a Muslim defeats the purpose of the Tea Bagger Gang, and that is to whip up incitement, fear and bigotry to achieve their purpose of regaining power in Washington to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except further screw up shyt.

And while I understand that the POTUS probably believes he doesn’t have to dignify this loony business with a response, I’d like to remind him that John Kerry thought the same damned thing when the Swift Boat people came gunning for him back in 2004:

The call for me to sign a 180 form came from the same partisan operatives who were lying about my record on a daily basis on the Web and in the right-wing media. Even though the media was discrediting them, they continued to lie. I felt strongly that we shouldn’t kowtow to them and their attempts to drag their lies out.^[77][78]

There are times when I think the POTUS gives the wingnut segment of America too much credit, as in terms of BEING CAPABLE OF INDEPENDENT THINKING.  Now that Fake Noise has come out of their closets and quit trying to be an actual news organization, the results were to reward them with Helen Thomas’ old seat at the White House Press Conferences, still in an attempt to curry favor with those who will not be appeased. 

It is like witnessing domestic violence between two people.  The abuser apologizes, behaves himself for five minutes before he erupts again.  The person being abused still believes that only if she behaves and not “set him off”, her partner will love her like he says he does.  Fake Noise does the SAME DAMNED THING.  Whine when the POTUS or no one in his Administration will go on their shows; beat them up in the press by persuading 25% of this country to believe Mr. Obama is a Muslim, and the White House gives them a front row seat in the Press Room in the hopes of more favorable treatment.

This is the same media outlet that facilitated similar knee-jerk reactions from this Administration since Mr. Obama campaigned for the White House; rather than repeat them, I’ve linked to them here, here and here.  And the Shirley Sherrod incident was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The GOBP has NOTHING TO OFFER; either going into the 2010 midterms, or in 2012.  Why can’t this Administration see that, and why can’t the Democrats campaign like they KNOW they have a better alternative?  And, BTW, those of you who feel you should vote third-party or stay at home in November, I will remind you, while you bask in your self-admiration of voting your “conscience”, just what you unleash if you do so:

1. John Boehner will become Speaker of the House.
2. Impeachment proceedings will begin.
3. Darrell Issa has promised all kinds of nonsensical investigations of the Obama Administration.
4. Continued obstruction in both Houses of Congress, instead of the Senate.
5. Sarah Palin continues to get more than her 15 minutes of fame as a GRIFTER.
6. Repeal of what the POTUS has managed to accomplish, including giving BP back their settlement money for the damaged they caused in the Gulf (remember the oil-soaked Joe Barton’s public fellatio of Tony Hayward?)
7. Recission of the Health Care Reform Bill.  In fact, recission of EVERYTHING, even where the POTUS continually made concessions to the Reich-Wing and they still hollered like HIT DOGS.

Worst of all, President Obama will waste the remainder of his term trying to answer the challenges and trying to issue rebuttals to this shyt; thus making him succeptable to an inter-party challenge from his Secretary of State (I said he shouldn’t have given Missy Hillary a position in his Administration – she will use it to backstab him.)

We can no longer be silent on the things that MATTER.  Neither can the POTUS.  It is time to make the GOBP either “PUT UP OR STHU.”
