Nothing there contradicts what I stated. While the public option may have been a plank in the HCR platform it was not the BE ALL and END ALL that folks are trying to make it out to be. NOR did Obama EVER say it was 'mandatory' he simply did not oppose it. It was like a WANT vs. a NEED. We NEED HealthCareReform..we WANT a public option. We can get health care reform without a public option, ergo it was NOT the Holy Grail of Health care reform. Rather the operative word in the phrase public option is clearly OPTION….a public option was optional…not essential.

You are on a tangent and certainly misguided to beleive that the public option was the back bone that would make or break health care reform. It is patently obvious that it was just an option.

Perhaps, Obama did oppose mandates during the campaign. So what? Apparently, he recieved new information that demonstrated why it was essential to increase the pool of the insured to enable the insurers to reduce premiums. It seems you do not understand how the insurer risk pools work.

We don't need drug reimportation to begin with. That is just a waste of time.
Your commentary is consistently negative and thus your credibility is not high.
You seem to see the glass as perpetually half empty. When SocialSecurity was passed it did not cover blacks for the most part and that was deliberate passed on the Southern Democrat dominance as Chairs of congress committees. Over time Social Security was amended so now it does cover blacks along with widows and survivor benefits.

No one gets everything at once in the history of health care legislation in this country. We start out with a foundation and build on it. That is what is happening now. We need to pass the health care reform even if it is not perfect it can always be amended and improved.

This bill will be a significant advancement over what we presently have in terms of Americans not going bankrupt, not being able to be cut off when their is a serious illness and not being limited to lifetime maxium coverage under the policy set by insurers.

All of these things will be a tremendous aid to those who need health care.

The bill may not be perfect but it is a good start on the path to where we want to end up.

Just like Social Security was not perfect when it first path.

Maybe, you need to be more optimistic and take a long term view of what progress means instead of all the carping about what ain't going right to you right now in this moment.

As Obama said numerous times during the campaign this is not a perfect union but we can strive to improve it each and every year.

So quit your kvetching and get to getting on something that is productive and positive to move this nation forward.

Support this Presidency, cause it is a helluva lot better than what we had for the past 8 years under Bush.
