this is part of an excellent interview Roland Martin had with Van Jones. this is the problem I have with Roland’s show – they should put out the entire interview. these short clips just don’t make any sense.

Well, you know I was being sarcastic in order to make a serious point, right? It doesn't matter that you got a “damn right!!” when you expressed the same beliefs…principles…a couple of years ago. Now that Obama is President, some of the people who gave you that “damn right” really do expect you not to express those same principles today…if they happen to clash with this President's policies. Needless to say, don't give 'em up.

thnx man. I appreciate it. You know, it's really hard for me, 'cause in the end, I was one of Obama's biggest supporters. Back as far 2005, a group of of us got together and wrote then Senator Obama to consider running for office. Needless to say, I campaigned for obama, knocked on doors, gave money, distributed campaign literature….all of that, with the hope that he'd usher in a new era of change. Now, I'd understand “pragmatism” and “moderation” and whatever else have you, if I firmly believed that they were working on behalf of poor and working class people at home, and towards a more humane foreign policy abroad…..but in the end, that's not the case. Obama's actually proving to be the president John Kerry would've been had they not stolen Ohio in 04.

What in the world are talking about today? Just another childish rant huh? Obama has already dialed back some of the harsh immigration enforcement policies cops had before but you obviously failed to mention to that.

The new agreements tighten the scope, specifying that law enforcement officials should use 287(g) powers to “remove dangerous criminal aliens.” In addition, they stipulate that “all criminal charges that originally caused the offender to be taken into custody” must be pursued, an effort to stop police from using minor infractions as a pretext for deportations.

You are such a bleeding heart. I really feel sorry you. You elected a politician nothing more nothing less. I'm sorry Barry won't dismantle the US military. He also won't give amnesty to all the illegal immigrants. Tax payer funded abortions not going to happen. Universal health care….LOL….not in this lifetime. Same Sex Marriage….ROFLMAO…don't hold your breath. 2012….just write in your own name. Have a good one. Hope the weather is good in San Fran this week.

“I had more black female role models growing up than black men”
As did I, I don't buy that propaganda one bit. Even today, I have to admit that many of the people I relate to on a personal level are regular black women of all ages who are not flashy or corporate this or that. As to your point about who black women are told to admire, I agree completely. It's actually why I don't care for Ebony magazine – every time I see Tyra Banks listed as a “new black leader”, I want to burn the magazine with kerosene.

Raids and Ambassador’s Remarks Undermine Obama’s Immigration Message
On the same day that President Obama was holding a series of meetings with lawmakers and community leaders about moving immigration reform legislation forward, his administration was sending a very different signal. Just up the road in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties in Maryland, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were conducting immigration raids on two restaurants and rounding up immigrants at their homes.
The Baltimore Sun reported Friday:
Twenty-nine people were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in simultaneous raids Thursday morning in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties at two restaurants, several residences and an office.
One of the raids focused on the Timbuktu Restaurant…and several nearby homes where restaurant workers were housed, according to Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold. Eighteen Anne Arundel County police officers assisted federal agents.
Was it just bad timing for an administration trying to show a different face on immigration? This wouldn’t be the first time the left hand didn’t know what the right hand was doing on immigration since Obama took office. Some think it might be worse and that cowboys in ICE are undermining the President’s overture on immigration or are sending a signal before the big March For America on the National Mall on March 21.
In response to a scathing press conference this week outlining how enforcement of immigration laws has escalated under the Obama administration, community-based advocates were meeting with the President to explain the impact these policies are having on local communities. Almost 400,000 people have been deported since the President took office, they said, sewing fear in immigrant families and neighborhoods.
The Obama administration argues they are targeting serious criminals and security threats with their enforcement resources. But as County Executive Leopold indicates above, this raid – like so many other enforcement actions – seems to have targeted plain old hourly wage workers to send a signal that anyone at anytime can be deported. It is not the kind of targeted enforcement against criminals the President claims to support or which could actually make American communities safer.
Then, late Thursday, El Universal and other news outlets in Mexico City reported that the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Pascual, told Mexican senators that he was ruling out chances of immigration reform in the United States in the short term because of the climate of political confrontation in the U.S. in advance of the November elections.
He may be right. He may even be speaking more honestly and bluntly than the President, but he is decidedly “off message.”
On Thursday, the President told the press in a statement:
I told both the senators and the community leaders that my commitment to comprehensive immigration reform is unwavering, and that I will continue to be their partner in this important effort.
The President was clearly trying to indicate his intention to do more on immigration and the support of lawmakers in both parties was on display this week, which is encouraging. But if armed federal officers and local police are going into people’s homes to arrest restaurant workers for being here illegally and your Ambassador to the country that is the largest source of immigrants to the U.S. is saying it ain’t gonna happen, then maybe we need more than “unwavering support” from the President to get this done.

I'm a little confused should we not deport illegal immigrants? What's your issue because ICE is doing raids to deport people? How else do you do it? Put up a sign?

ICE moratoriums make sense since everyone knows the immigration processing system is broken beyond repair and database systems used to determine who's legal or not are wrong most of the time.
Where's the proof of that? What's your source for that statement?

Feds' immigration database wrongly flags 18M workers: “The online system, called the Basic Pilot Program, automatically matches names and Social Security numbers when people apply for jobs. But the 11-year-old system is hardly foolproof.
A congressional audit last year found that the system erroneously identified people 4 percent of the time. Given the vast trove of computerized government records, that meant 18 million people were incorrectly flagged as being ineligible for work because of data mismatches. The error rate has improved, but Basic Pilot is still fallible. “

WTF! At what point does it not become evident to certain people, that President Obama has never been the problem. The real problems have always been some of the members of Congress.
Do they literally need Obama to walk them hand in hand towards this HCR vote.

OK, in a spare moment I went to Amazon. Easily found more than a half dozen books specific to Black female leaders. Took a couple of searches on variations (black woman executives, african american woman leadership, etc.) but so much for the “ain't none” part.

Netanyahu thinks he can thumb his nose as this administration. He beleives POTUS is a wuss, all talk and no walk. He just doesn't get that POTUS does a lot of talking before he walks because he knows how big and powerful his walking stick is and does not believe that might makes right. But Netanyahu is a bully, always has been and for the first time he believes he can bully the USA.
He is about to learn that POTUS means POTUS and don't change cause the POTUS is a POC.

i am not getting into the issue abut family butr in this caseI believe the people are solid. A deal for $250,000,000 puts the money in the hands of the foundation not in the attorney's. As this deal does not include rights to his likeness but only the music Sony is cutting its own throat because the joint ownership of the publishing ook was established because MJ's pending habits made him asset rich but cash poor. By paying cash upfront, hopefully to settle bills, the cash flow from the publishing company is free to do whatever the foundation and children deem OK. Hopefully they will buy Sony out ASAP.

The actual dismantling of longstanding OPM rules and operation occurred in a Defense Authorization Act when Bush Admin implemented the Personnel Demonstration Project. This system is now being dismantled by PBO and the old OPM system is being restored. As far as determining who was adversely impacting by the change in personnel systems, I will have to find OPM stats before this system was implemented.

Sure your right. I've been working in the Estate Planning area of the law firm that employs me for the last 3 months. All I'll say is while we bicker about who is getting what… white folks take care of their own and put it down on paper for the world to see. We need to be more involved in estate planning just to avoid the bs after the hurt of losing our seniors/loved ones.
