I'm wondering what good fraud in Bullock, Perry, and Lowndes county would do since they are ~70% AA, in your context anyway. Are you willing to argue that dead folks voting and database purges don't happen everywhere and anywhere there is a Democratic “machine”? My above example is a firsthand experience and I'm damn sure the practice didn't originate in Alabama.

In large part the political offices held in those counties reflect the demographics. If you are asserting that the election problems are strictly racial in nature, I think you didn't do enough research. That's not to say there isn't a problem. I happen to believe those problems cross many boundaries. Also, Alabama has many (R) office holders, but the majority of state politics is controlled by a (D) political machine. Alfa Insurance, Paul Hubbert (teachers union), and BCBS wield most of the influence in the state house.

If the D political machine is as powerful as you suggest why do you think the 'machine' return 10% of white voters for PBO?

I was only refuting your implication of racially motivated vote fraud in those stated counties. Those counties were overwhelmingly for PBO. The rest of Alabama votes conservative nationally, yes, along demographic lines (the same as the national trend). For state and local elections money and influence tend to elect more Democrats, black or white. My point: There are more Democrat crooks in Alabama than Republican crooks.
THE answer to your last question: PBO is a tax and spend Liberal (at best). Even so, he fooled more people in Alabama to vote for him than did Gore OR Kerry.

Really from the beginning drawing inference of party line or racially motivated vote fraud from: “It's hard to predict what will happen in Alabama, there are serious flaws and compromises in the voting process” was a bit of a stretch.
If you can't recognize that current spending is an attempt to remedy a national crisis and you want to use this preventative measure to label PBO as a tax and spend Liberal there is nothing I can say add to the conversation other than 'we are all on the same boat' and you best be hoping he succeeds.

So this was all just an attempt at steering the current debate on spending, not about Rep. Davis or vote fraud? OK. We do disagree on spending. The hard times are here and into the future, and we'll have to cut spending to equal revenue. The real question is where to cut.
Artur Davis can't win in AL because the Democrats ARE THE GOOD OL' BOY network. If the union boss will not back him, he won't win. Republicans are easy to demagogue, but the Democrats are the arbiters of change (cash) for now.

No, I did not attempt to steer conversation. Initially, I basically thought out loud about known voting irregularities in Alabama that are so severe the violations warrant monitors from the DOJ on election day.
