Blaming Cheney for being a war hawk is like blaming water for being wet. What did anyone think he would say if asked? There is a legitimate debate about the handling of terrorism suspects after all. Crying about a Cheney opinion now is just grandstanding, and late at that.
I do have serious reservations about the handling of “suspects”. The post 9-11 legislative spree really accelerated an erosion of rights. For all the bluster demonstrated against it in 2002, there's not a lot of Democratic interest in dialing it back now…even slightly.

It's not likely Cheney is 'retired', he throws himself into the middle of current issues and debates. When was the last time you heard of a former VP releasing press releases that attacks the sitting President?

The thing I find most offensive is very few and no one of stature has confronted this in the media. That is why anglos feel they can act with impunity; they know, inherently (i.e. white privilege), they will get away with it

Missing from this analysis is the fact that the WH has made so many concessions to the Republicans and included so many of their demands into legislation that the left wing is pissed, and the GOP turned around and voted against it anyway.
Outright lies tend to make it hard to even suspend disbelief. For better or for worse, I can't remember or find any concessions that matter. All the big disagreements are still in play to this day.
Nothing is going to change until our pudgy, well-paid, lazy stenographer class is as desperate as the rest of the American people.
I think many a blogger who post here could be called “stenographers” with barfable opinions. Most of are getting paid while were on JJP…..by someone.

can't remember what he said last week…. Can someone please explain this to be, did'nt he say in the SOTU speech that they were the ones that created the problem and the bonuses would be vigorously opposed….what changed????please help me understand…
