I think there are a spectrum of Democrats…from conservative to liberal.
Which is nothing new, given that this was at one time the party of the South and from which the Dixiecrats were a spin off of.

Why don't they tell the truth. They were hedging their bets with Dems in 2008 cause they KNEW the economic was going to tank due to their nefarious business deals. They also knew if McCain won, their asses would have crashed cause he did not understand diddly about the economy and would have opposed anything Paulson said..just to be contrary and onery and let everybody know he was the one in charge!

Eight Texas churches barely 150 miles apart have caught fire since New Year's Day, putting pastors and congregations on edge and on guard wondering whether theirs is next.
Authorities determined seven of those fires were intentionally set and they are investigating one that broke out Thursday as a possible arson. There have been no reported injuries or arrests, and federal officials aren't saying whether there's a connection.

Nelson Mandela, fellow veterans of South Africa's anti-apartheid struggle and family have raised glasses of bubbly to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his release from prison.
Mandela was released Feb. 11, 1990 after 27 years in prison, most of it spent on Cape Town's Robben Island. In video released from a celebration at his Johannesburg home Thursday, Cyril Ramaphosa, an ANC leader who helped organize Mandela's welcome two decades ago, proposes a toast in which he says that Mandela remains an inspiration and that the sacrifices he made would never be forgotten.
Mandela's former wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, and some of their children and grandchildren joined the celebration.
Mandela, who turns 92 on July 18, had largely retired from public life.

Just like Hillary's thesis and Bush's Guard records, Obama's school records are the subject of debate because of their scarcity. Why not release them in an open and transparent fashion? Proving Limbaugh wrong shouldn't be empirically difficult. Crying foul doesn't require evidence either way, however.

Conyers wants Haiti relief official demoted over diversity deficit
Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) has called on Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to demote the official coordinating Haiti relief efforts for not having enough minority staffers.
The House Judiciary Committee Chairman sent a letter to Clinton on Thursday after Rajiv Shah, administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, showed up at a meeting with the 42-member Congressional Black Caucus without any African American staffers in tow.
“I was alarmed and chagrined to learn that none of the approximately dozen staff he brought with him were African American,” Conyers wrote in the letter.

White House considers pro-labor policy for government contractors
The Obama administration is considering a proposal that would heavily favor government contractors that implement policies designed by organized labor.
The “High Road Contracting Policy” would give preference to companies that adopt practices above and beyond existing labor laws.
Considering the political climate, this is like Obama going gambling in 'Vegas with Union money. Smells bad.

10 Americans charged in Haiti with kidnapping

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Ten U.S. Baptist missionaries were charged with kidnapping Thursday for trying to take 33 children out of Haiti to a hastily arranged refuge just as officials were trying to protect children from predators in the chaos of a great earthquake.
The Haitian lawyer who represents the 10 Americans portrayed nine of his clients as innocents caught up in a scheme they did not understand. But attorney Edwin Coq did not defend the actions of the group leader, Laura Silsby, though he continued to represent her.
“I'm going to do everything I can to get the nine out. They were naive. They had no idea what was going on and they did not know that they needed official papers to cross the border,” Coq said. “But Silsby did.”
Each was charged with one count of kidnapping, which carries a sentence of five to 15 years in prison, and one of criminal association, punishable by three to nine years. Coq said the case would be assigned a judge and a verdict could take three months.
U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Merten showed up after 5 p.m. outside judicial police headquarters, where the Americans are being held and where President Rene Preval and top ministers now have temporary offices because theirs were destroyed in the quake.
“The U.S. justice system cannot interfere in what's going on with these Americans right now,” he told reporters. “The Haitian justice system will do what it has to do.”
