Tiger shot this before laying down his verse on “More Pumps and a Bump” featuring Gucci Mane and Drake.

This picture bothers me on a number of levels. What was the point of the picture? What was the point of the person taking the picture. Tiger Woods has run away from ‘being Black’ to the point where he created a whole other category for himself; so, of course, the ONLY way to show Tiger Woods, was to THUG HIM UP? I think my tipping point is the cap. For those who called it ‘ Blackification’, you were on point.

Honestly, he did the shoot before the jumpoffs came out of the woodwork, but this sure is weird timing.

So not feelin' the cover, tho. Feels like they were copying D'Angelo's “Untitled” and added a cap and weights to make it seem “original.” Meh.
But hey…YMMV. It'll still sell. As for me, I'll hold onto my pennies.

I say that it is weird because VF held back on these photos which are alleged to be four years old. And it's weird that Tiger would consent to posing like this.
He looks like an escapee from Oz. Not every black man is a convict-in-waiting.

I think the author makes it abundantly clear that she’s not defending Tiger Woods; after all, he “chucked the deuces” to the Black community prior to him winning his first Master’s tournament. Instead, she’s defending our fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, nephews, husbands, and lovers that must pay the penalty for the “transgressions” of Black male athletes.

Never fails! No matter how high you get or how far you go; with one misstep they are glad to let you know how Black you really are, even if they have to make up stuff. Since Tiger visited his friend and left marrying “the help”, I'd like to know what little secrets hide within the cobwebs of his wife's life. Sure she couldn't stand up to media blast herself. Not that I am excusing Tiger as I really never cared, and don't now, what went on in his private life. Chickens do come home to roost! He's still the greatest golfer that they have and they can't take that from him. They put him on top and now they want to blame all his bad habits on us. I tweeted Ms. Foster, she probably won't like it. However, we have enough white folk licking their lips like felines in a cream factory about Tiger's fall from grace without black folk piling on. And Ms. Foster is piling on by making dumb, uninformed and irresponsible statements.

The two things that made Tiger woods stand out in my mind was (a) he was a super champion golfer and (b) He was a Princeton Alum. The reason why (b) was important to me was that so many young men of color, who are super athletes, wind up doing foolish things that result in squandering the fortunes that being a sports star generates. Sure I was disappointed when Tiger disowned his father's ancestry to brand himself a “CABLANASIAN” what ever that is. But like many other AA brothers I wished him well as he worked his way through the golf record books.
When Tiger smashed up his SUV and opened up a feeding grenzy for the tabloids, I put his patronizing of a stable of hookers down to his possible immaturity due mostly to his obsession with the game of golf. But the photo shoot he did with Annie Leibovitz 2 years ago defies explanation. Now Tiger is a graduate of an ivy league school, so he is no dummy, and as the top golfer in the world it should have occurred to him that if he was to go forwarded with this photo shoot, in no time sports commentators would be screaming “Tiger Woods is on STEROIDS!!” The loose fitting polo shirts he wore while out on the course effectively hid that heavy musclular development. However, with Vanity Fair blasting those bare chested photos all over the country, the tabloids would be on Tiger like white on rice looking for the “smoking gun” Steroid connections. If such a connection is made but unproven, all of Tiger's accomplishments on the golf course would be eventually erased from the record books. so my question is what the hell was that dummy thinking when he agreed to madam Leibovitz's photo shoot? Further, it's not like Annie L. is some young unknown photographer trying to get started. Leibovitz has a national reputation for taking controversial pictures of black athletic stars. Remember Lebron James on the cover of Vanity Fair doing his imitation of king kong with scantily clad white woman lying at his feet. Tiger should have been well aware of the ruckus that the Lebron James cover caused when Vanity Fair hit the newsstands. I wish Tiger well because the next phase of attacks will be directly upon his status within the world of golf with a continuous flood of allegations that his Steroid use accounts for his many tournament wins.
