In the aftermath of a major earthquake which virtually flattened Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city last Tuesday, President Obama who pledged America’s full support, said today that he is dispatching Vice President Joe Biden to meet with the Haitian-American Community in South Florida.

Biden, along with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden will travel to South Florida on Saturday where he would meet with Haitian- Americans regarding the United States response to the crisis in Haiti.

The Bidens will also be meeting with responders based in South Florida who are supporting and mobilizing relief efforts in Haiti.

South Florida is home to close to 400,000 Haiti-Americans, most of whom have relatives and other family in Haiti.

It is so amazing that people are just figuring this out. It's like the banks loaning money they don't because there is little money in it. so just like the government set up the SBA to make money available to small business and the same in the recent takeover of the student loan program the government needs to just say handover the program.

Criminal mind huh?

Its basically outsourcing local/state/federal governmental functions. This means increased cost to run government and increased taxes for taxpayers. Businesses paid by taxpayers then charge taxpayers fees to render service. Its win-win for businesses.

Thanks Foxy, while these are not all socialist countries I could see myself living myself living in only one of them and that's Canada. Some of those countries have race issues that are even worst than America. Like Finland and New Zealand for instance. I mean we're talking about socialist countries that are 99% white! Is that preferable to what we have here? African Americans are as a group (per capita) the most successful black people in the world. I know we still lag behind whites in wealth achievement but maybe we should spend more time talking abou what's RIGHT with black America as well as the problems that the MSM won't let us forget about.

But I think we're only limited by our own abilities. It sounds like you are a perfect example of someone who is enjoying the best that this country has to offer. Something to be thankful for especially in these times. We have the freedom to be/do anything we want, including the freedom to leave the country and find happiness elsewhere.

Well if someone DOES explain it to you, please pass it on. We pay $2,000 a month for two people when everything's factored in: copays, deductibles, and the premiums. That's 7.5% up this year, 10% up the year before that, 8.5% the year before that. It's madness. Pretty soon, we'll be sitting on the corner with paper signs saying “will work for health insurance.”

It's government-abetted robbery of the American people. Government has abandoned its role of protection and instead has joined forces with the corporate thugs who are trying ~ and succeeding in too many instances ~ to drain us dry.

And now to mandate the purchase of insurance from a PRIVATE entity? Insane.

I do wonder about the mandates because as the Senate bill is written there is no enforcement mechanism. IMO, the bureaucracy(Dept of Health, Welfare) will impose a punitive action at some point. At present as you pointed out in your own situation if they enforce a mandate the income spent on health insurance comes out of everything else removing more dollars from a recovery in a consumer spending economy like ours.
