Clarence Thomas?

Clarence Thomas…..I would not. Those two I mentioned actively go out of their way to demean black folks in front of white audiences which I think is despicable. And they enjoy doing it so they can get an “atta boy” and a pat on the back from white folks. As much as I may disagree with Clarence Thomas' opinions I haven't seen him going on tv shows and demeaning black people. I don't like using terms like slave catcher because I think in dumbs down the debate but their actions are so egregious like those two I can't hold back.

Edit: Like the Wells Fargo thread I made a post that you took exception. I would only make a post like that amongst black folks. I wouldn't go on huffingtonpost or salon with that type of post.

Well, with regard to the Wells Fargo thing specifically, I don't think it would make any difference where you expressed that opinion, it's that you expressed it at all, in the way you expressed it. You basically belittled those black people for having the nerve to complain about being swindled.

Just because those other people you named don't demean black people quite as manically as Peterson and Manning, it doesn't mean that they don't do that.

By the way, since you brought up Wells Fargo, the way you responded to that was very Peterson/Manning like. That you didn't do it on Huffingpost really doesn't matter that much.

We know what that is, and where it comes from. That's very much some Jesse Lee Peterson kind of shit, whether white people are around when you say it, or not.

Ok I'll play your game. Well, black folks “back in the day” that were “high yella” would try to pass for white all the time. That is not a new phenomenon. If they were successful “blending in” in white society they would have benefits that the other “darkies” wouldn't' have. Tiger Woods is an example of someone who is multi-racial but doesn't claim to be a black man. To society it makes him less threatening and “not like the rest of them.” Some people probably feel like he is more approachable. In school students most likely socialize with their own race as to a larger extent prison as well. If someone identifies as multi-racial instead of African American they may not be welcome in certain social circles and welcome in others. I think if Barack Obama identified as a Caublasion instead of African American he probably wouldn't be President right now.
