Actually, I won't stop and I think I have done something. You imply that I
am somehow criticizing Martin Luther King or Coretta Scott King. I am not --
I am in fact suggesting that both deserve a better monument and a stronger
continuation of their work than the King Center currently provides. JJP
exists in part to take a fresh look at our current black leaders, including
the living King children, and ask some questions that hopefully challenge
them to do more for black folk. It's not hate that drives me but love of our
people. If you think the King Online Bookstore which unbelievably offers 1
book only of MLK's most famous speeches and 2 of Yolanda King's self-help
books rather than the many great books MLK wrote, that Coretta wrote, plus
the many biographies, histories and analyses of that period is good enough
-- than I am sorry -- we must disagree. Personally I have a greater vision
and I welcome the surviving King children to ask the advice of any JJP
community member on how they might strengthen both the online and offline
legacy of their parents. I have a dream that the King children can do more
and better to inspire a new generation. I wonder that you do not.

Yes, I have been there both on and off line.
It is not about my expectations of the MLK center..it is about you constantly whining, bitching, moaning and complaining about black folks and the recognition of their greatness. What gives you the stature to even complain? What have you done in life?. Are there any monuments to you ANYwhere? Are you a significant figure in black history? Is there a museum dedicated to YOUR life? Do school children learn about how your efforts changed American society for the better?

If you want something better from the legacy...take your butt to Atlanta and VOLUNTEER your time and effort. But stop all the bitching and whining...if your expectations are sooooo lofty...get busy making them a reality and stop complaining.

DO Somethign!!....bitching and whining is nothing but nagging. It's what lazy people do who don't want to put forth the effort to bring about change they just want to stand around instigating and rebel rousing ...but you can't count on them to DO a darn thing, not lift a finger nor contribute a dime...they will however critique others efforts..out of some misguided notion that they have 'higher' expectations than the folks actually doing the work.

suuuure...stop lieing to your self...quit with the hate.

Appreciate don't denigrate.

After all...you don't have one tape about yourself dedicated to nothing...nor does anyone want to read the letters you write cause they would be full of angst and negativity...unlike Kings who wrote to inspire, uplift and create social justice via civic protest.

Just stop.

Have you been to the King Center? Or their Bookstore, online or offline? If so, I'm guessing you'd feel the same mixture of inspiration and disappointment. I'm sorry your expectations for how Martin Luther King's legacy should be treated and how his family could continue his outreach to new generations is so low. Forgive me if mine ain't. Coretta Scott King had the highest expectations and we can all learn from what she accomplished in creating the King Center and the King Holiday against the odds. I don't think our expectations should be lower, do you?

Haven't you noticed the thunderous silence your posts receive. Folks tired of your constant bitching about black folks, people who we admire...now even the damn KingCenter ain't good enough for you?

What gives you the self-righteousness to think you someone who has even made any type of contribution to society comparable to the BLACK pillars you constantly critiquing?

Celebrate our achievements, our greatness..our contributions to the better of society...hell if it wasn't for Coretta and MLK..your ass would still be in segregated schools...and never have attended Sidwell.
