THANKS for sharing this. confirmed my suspicions that we indeed have a thinking, compassionate president. favorite part:

One, a little sloppy writing on my part. that should read You're the effing President. Criticism is part of the job description.
The point being the president is sending his staff out to respond to criticism because they didn't get it right the first time. As much as i disagreed w/ Reagan and was appallled when he died how everyone including Democrats not only kissed his ass calling his policies great, but competed w/ Kiss to see who had the longest tongue, he was always way ahead of the press, the public and criticism becase he knew how to frame policy the FIRST TIME. No whining I can't get my policy talked about.

Two, to call him the effing President is the truth. You have to man up and in my opinon on a number of domestic issues he isn't close.

I'm not seeing any inconsistancy here at all. I don't know why some of us on the left insist on hearing what we want to hear from President Obama instead of actually listening to what he actually says. To “begin to transfer forces in July 2011″, which is what the president said could mean anything, but it certainly does not mean the same thing as “troops will be leaving Afganistan in July 2011″, which is what some on the left heard him say. I came on this blog and said as much the day after the speech. In fact, right after the speech, we hear talk like “conditions on the ground” and such coming from folks like Valerie Jarrett and Secy. Gates. There is no withdrawal date per se and never has been.

Have you guys not got it through your heads yet that the Obama administration does not give a shyt about the public option or could possibly not want it at all? Rahm Emanuel has said many times that he is in favor of the trigger, and has not stopped saying it. You think that if the pres was all in for the public option he would allow this? For crying out loud, they have let Sen. Snowe into the guts of the negotiations and she wants a trigger or nothing. They care MUCH more about the facade of bi-parisanship than they do about the actual content of the bill. We could easily end up with the situation being worse then it is now and them calling it reform, just so that they can get a couple repugs on board. If you ask me, the public option is in grave danger in the Senate, especially if you guys are depending on the Obama administration to save it.

Clinton is a hawk. I understand she was not pleased when the president wiped the slate clean and made everyone start over. I am trusting the president is still playing chess with all these “I think I know what is best” group of people and he will do what he said. He is the commander in chief and everybody needs to get a grip.

At a billion dollars of earnings to date and a settlement w/ his soon to be ex Tiger might lose endorsements next year. The only Tiger killer of his endorsements is if one of the women can credibly prove he used drugs. Even then a year off in therapy and an appearance w/David Duchovny on Californication he'll be cool again w/ the general public.

This is a response to criticism of timelines and a capitulation to the right. If you read the speech you have to realize that the problem lies w/ the President and his political staff. they refuse to take a position in the mistaken belief that postions make them a target.
