Anyway, my sense is the most reliable data can be found at the USDA site as they lead the program. Their most recent WIC study happened in 2006, States were required for the first time to report race and ethnicity separately, based on

new Office of Management and Budget (OMB) standards. Hispanics, as an ethnic group, make up 41.2 percent of WIC participants. The ethnic composition of the WIC program has been changing steadily since 1992 with the percentage of Hispanic WIC participants rising, while the percentage of non-Hispanic
participants has fallen. In 2006, race data was reported by the States for
96.8 percent of WIC participants. Under the new racial reporting categories, Whites are the largest group (55.3 percent), followed by Black/African Americans (19.6 percent), American Indian/Alaska Native (15.3 percent), and Asian and Asian or Pacific Islanders (3.7 percent)

Statistics
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, statistics for the food stamp program are as follows:[6]

41 percent of participants are white; 36 percent are African-American, non-Hispanic; 18 percent are Hispanic; 3 percent are Asian, 2 percent are Native American, and 1 percent are of unknown race or ethnicity.

51 percent of all participants are children (17 or younger), and 65 percent of them live in single-parent households.
55 percent of food stamp households include children.
9 percent of all participants are elderly (age 60 or over).
79 percent of all benefits go to households with children, 14 percent go to households with disabled persons, and 7 percent go to households with elderly persons.
36 percent of households with children were headed by a single parent, the overwhelming majority of whom were women.
The average household size is 2.3 persons.
The average gross monthly income per food stamp household is $640.

When I was just starting out over 21 years ago, my income was waaaayyy below the poverty line and it never crossed my mind to get food stamps. Instead I budgeted. Not knocking anyone else for utilizing funding that is available to them but I do not accept the stereotype that 90% of black families in the lower income bracket will automatically require food stamps.
