Wow, I was in Kuwait/Iraq from Jan 03 to Jun 03 and it felt like an eternity. I can only imagine being deployed for that long that many times. I hope you are staying in touch through email as much as possible.

Hey Monie, thanks for sharing your personal connection to these tragic headlines. Much respect to you and your husband. I know politicians don't relish giving these speeches, and cynics will say it's just part of the job for them, but I was really touched by this line from the Biden speech:

“They are all of our sons, and they are all of our brothers.”

Thank you so much….he and his fellow soldiers have a 12 month tour there (I am praying hard that it doesn't become longer)…they have been there since the summer. When he returns after this tour, he will have been away from our family for 2 years out of a 3 and a half year period. But he is the love of my life, one of my best friends, and as long as he is willing to serve, I am willing to stand with him and support him.

FYI: VP Biden will be at a memorial today for the seven members of the 5th Stryker 2nd Infantry Division members who were killed Oct 27.

This is also personally tragic and important to me...Fort Lewis was my home just a few months ago and this is the brigade my hubby is now serving with in Afghanistan.

but...but...but....he's not a 'real American'. he doesn't mean it. he hates this country.

you got folks just itching to call ' terrorism', and will use the pile of dead soldiers to do it.

this was a human tragedy, costing us those who signed up to sacrifice for this country. politics should be nowhere around it, and they hate that they can't do what they want to do.

Today, at Ft. Hood. I guarantee: they'll be teaching this one in rhetoric classes. It was that good. My gloss won't do it justice. Yes, I'm having a Chris Matthews-chill-running-up-my-leg moment, but sometimes, the man, the moment and the words come together and meet the challenge.
