One room at one time. It's this type of stuff the GOP Caucus has been successfully doing. It's this type of stuff that has helped the GOP ram crazy changes down our throats with little backlash.

He may be basking the spotlight, but it's not without a good reason.

I was wondering a while back if the whole racist angle taken by Fox was simply an act to increase and maintain its viewership. If racists are one thing, they are loyal. However, in hearing these comments from Murdoch's mouth, it becomes more than plain that the whole venture is shot through with racism.

And it is a shame. There is no way America can more forward if what claims to be a major news network continues to promulgate and encourage this type of nonsense.

Why not just call up the senators? Why the need for the photo ops? Why not meet with them, if he must meet with them, without all the fanfare?

He's basking in the spotlight and trying to mend his reputation. Still.

So if you can't get the bill that it up to your standards what do we do?

Wait another sixty years? The current bill will help some people. Maybe not as much and in the way that you like but some. Robm you and brucedixion might as well join the opposition. If we listened to your advice we wouldn't even get a bill. There's people out here that need assistance and they don't have the time for you not to support a bill by Democratic President and Congress that you voted for by the way. If miss opinion doesn't qualify for insurance under the plan somebody else well. Are you willing to deny families the insurance they need because you the bill isn't perfect? If this bill dies there is not any second chances. Obama will go through a year of his Presidency without any major legislation passing. And we will have a Democrats like you and brucedixion to thank for it. The votes aren't there for the bill that you want. I don't get what is so hard to understand about that.

People voted for health care, not for health insurance. They are not the same thing.

I do not know anybody who voted to bail out insurance companies by forcing us under penalty of law to purchase their crappy products. i don't know anyone who voted to give BIg Pharma a break by prohibiting the use of generic drugs in the category (biologic drugs) most likely to grow in importance in the next few years. I don't know anyone who voted to prevent states from pursuing single payer health care on their own, or to keep women not just from accessing abortion services, but to fund with govt money insurance policies which don't even cover basic family planning, pelvic examinations and such.

If these are really “concessions”, the question should be just what if anything we GOT in return for them, and whether what we supposedly received was worth it. The ban on insurance companies using pre-existing conditions is something that could have been passed separately, as Dennis Kucinich points out. And even that is half given back by the bill's openings for insurance companies to institute programs that “reward” wellness, a back door method of doing the same thing they did with pre-existing conditions.
