Jay-Z, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith back 'Fela!' The Associated Press
NEW YORK — It's official: After weeks of speculation, Jay-Z and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have joined the producing team of the Broadway musical "Fela!" (feh-LAH')
Jay-Z told The Associated Press last month that he might be getting involved in the show, an Afrobeat musical about the life of Nigerian musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti (ah-knee-coo-LAH'-po coo-TEE'). Now producers say he and the Smiths are in, though there's no word on how much of a financial investment the three have made in the show.
"Fela!" is now in previews at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre and opens next Monday. It's directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones.

Plouffe Shocker: Edwards Camp Offered To Endorse If Obama Would Pick Him As VP Christina Bellantoni | November 16, 2009, 5:56PM
In the thick of the Democratic presidential primary, a top operative offered up John Edwards' withdrawal from the race and endorsement - on the condition the person he endorsed would offer him a spot on the ticket.
David Plouffe details the deal that "a senior Edwards" adviser" tried to ink before the South Carolina primary, spilling the beans in his book "The Audacity To Win."
Plouffe, then campaign manager for Barack Obama, was worried after the New Hampshire loss and polls tightening in South Carolina.
He said that the rival Edwards camp was in trouble and wanted to make a move with either Obama or Hillary Clinton while Edwards was "at a point of maximum leverage."
In this portion of the book, Plouffe hedges a bit, saying he's not sure Edwards was aware of the effort's specificity.
But he also has direct quotes, suggesting he documented the conversation.
-There is no truth to the rumor that Edwards said:
"And to seal the deal...I know this hot babe..."

Lawdybe,
I keep on saying this....
remember the time when we had to suffer through how Edwards should be the choice because...
' he was the SAFE WHITE MALE SOUTHERN CANDIDATE'.

Both John and Elizabeth Edwards really wanted to get to the WH. The man had a sidepiece and a child and he was willing to hitch that to somebody's train. Talk about narcissism and chutzpah. Those Edwards skeletons would have come flying out in October and we'd have McCain and Palin running the shop now.
Edwards couldn't help Kerry win any southern states in 2004, and Kerry is white, but he was going to help a black dude named Barack Hussein Obama win in the south in 2008, talk about delusional.

For too many reasons, I do not find this a bombshell. The Edwards campaign really wanted a deal and it seemed so obvious. Then, they went ballistic.
Don't even get me started w/ that vitriol that came out of Elizabeth's mouth about the presidential candidates having no way to compete against the *black guy*. Jeez, Louise. And I really take offense to Elizabeth doubting that Obama really had a health care agenda.
Just another day in their world.

I wasn't crazy about Edwards to begin with, but after his piss-poor performance at the 2004 VP debate, I gave him the side eye.
