I think some of us successful blacks have tendency to forget what the "grown folks" back in the day used to tell us.

"Work hard get an education but you are judged by a different standard"

"You are not them and you will never be them."

"Cross your t's and dot your i's"

Jefferson tried to play the game like the other Congressman play it. He doesn't have that type of leeway. He thought he made it. These negroes don't understand you stay on the straight narrow and don't get greedy. But the problem is they start "feeling themselves" too much. Now what? All that work for what? Brother you threw away a distinguished career for financial gain? How much was your integrity worth? Thirteen years I guess. You are going to be spending your "golden years" in a jail cell for atleast the next decade if you live that long and you are financially ruined. Your family is destroyed. Your daughters and grandchildren are going to be without the patriarch of their family and his political connections. Some people may not even associate with your family because the Jeffersons from LA are so tarnished. Your wife may divorce you and remarry.

The job I had previously I was making great money and traveling to a lot of exotic places. I thought I was on top of the world and all that was taken from me at an instant. I was laid off from my job for 10 months and I learned an invaluable lesson, "HUMBLE YOURSELF or something else will humble you" I think the jail sentence is a bit harsh but you know what. It's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who should have known better.

Jefferson is a criminal and should be jail. The same disparity continued right up to the sentencing after discovering tainted FBI investigation. When a similar discovery was made during Ted Stevens trial, his conviction was void.

My point is this, if Jefferson is "the" definition of a crook and corruption politician, then using him as the standard, there should be roughly 200+ others from Congress who should be joining him jail.

My problem with the Jefferson conviction and sentencing is, somehow, Jefferson alone became the poster boy for corruption in politics during a period of absolute corruption and organized looting on a grand scale.
