Repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell” will likely be included as part of next year’s Department of Defense authorization bill in both chambers of Congress, Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Wednesday.
“Military issues are always done as part of the overall authorization bill,” Frank said, insisting that this has been the strategy for overturning the policy all along. “'Don’t ask, don’t tell' was always going to be part of the military authorization.”

this is good news, and force the Congress to go on the record- make them take a stand.

Cute video ya'll. This soldier back from deployment is welcomed home by his dogs:
Ya'll the Black Snob is back blogging, and this might just be the funniest blog post on Michael "White Folks Scared Of Me" Steele. Check it out!!! Read the whole thing ya'll. Rikyrah, this might deserve it's own post...LOL!!
Oh, Uncle Mike! It’s been so long since I was amused by your antics. I’ve been busy, you see! With the move and the job and the life and all, so I hadn’t been playing a lick of attention to you. I’m sure you’ve done something else entertaining since we last talked, but this latest performance? The one where you said the white folks were afraid of you.
Can we talk...

Rice And Hadley Look Set To Launch Consulting Firm
Two top Bush administration officials whose reputations for strategic acumen were badly damaged by the disasters of the Bush years may be about to market their expertise to private-sector clients.
In September, the RiceHadley Group LLC was registered as a business in California, under a San Francisco address. According to a source, the venture is to be a "strategic consulting" firm, headed by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley, and will be launched imminently.
Neither Rice nor Hadley responded to TPMmuckraker's requests for comment.
A website at the URL "ricehadley.com" is said to be "under construction." According to internet records, the site was registered October 2. A woman with an Alexandria, Virginia mailing address -- who also did not respond to our attempts to contact her -- is listed as the administrative contact for the domain name.
Asked whether the Hoover Institution, where Rice is currently a senior fellow, was aware of plans for the firm, a spokeswoman replied that it was.
She added that Rice has not indicated she has any plans to leave Hoover, and that it's not unusual for fellows to have outside positions.
Rice and Hadley worked closely together during President Bush's first term, when Hadley served as Rice's deputy, while Rice was National Security Advisor.
Hadley is currently a senior advisor at the United States Institute for Peace.
The main issue appears to be DADT, ENDA & DOMA. However, if you continue on to the comments section, many of Hamsher's supporters are extending the boycott to include the Stupak Amendment, Obama's alleged "selling out" of healthcare and Obama's supposed "mishandling" of the economy. One of the most outrageous comments began, "This administration is a massive clusterf@ck."
What's most fascinating to me is how much Conservatives and Progressives are beginning to sound alike.
aleth
I just have a question which i stated at DKos based on a new york time article, Hillary Clinton is for the escalation of the war.
So I am looking for an explanation of how progressive she was/is? From Iraq vote, to protecting NAFTA, i just need an explanation.
I think I saw alot of revolt on Kuccinch on the site.
I have to ask another question:
What is a progressive? What is a liberal? What is a democrat? It seems like 3 separate identities.
caribgirl
The reason they both sound alike is that they are each in their echo chamber. The country is not progressive as progressives think nor as conservative as conservatives think.
I thought Obama was President for 4 years. If in 2012 they are not satisfied with what he has done, they could look for someone else to vote for or stay home whichever suits them better. I've seen on dailykos, numerous diaries calling for Kucinich in 2012. The ironic thing is that Kucinich voted against the stimulus, cap & trade, SCHIP, hate crimes, the budget, and health care. But apparently he is a "good" progressive.
Monie
so you mean to tell me Kucinich's records stands at what you have just described and the progressives have not stoned him verbally, disowned him, and threatened to boycott him, yet they elevated him to presidential candidate status for 2012, while the first year of this administration is not even complete.
Say it ain't so.
Democrats/progressives/liberals will always be their own worst enemy...always.
caribgirl
They seem to believe that if you swapped out Obama for Kucinich he would be able to get single payer or a robust public option through congress. How, I don't know. They could only get 220 votes for a weak PO in the house.

This is what happens when people let their emotions get the better of them. I never found anyone in that crowd appealing and I can see why. I'm not a overly passionate person. I can express anger but I think this crowd lets emotions get the better of them. I'd love to know what knight in progressive shinning armour do they think is out there that can get them every last thing they want?
I can't believe it took so long. Funny thing, though, that the last democratic president gave us DADT and DOMA and Clinton loyalists, so many of them GLBT, voted him back into office for another term anyway.
This democratic president isn't through a year and they're turning their backs.
What's the biggest difference between Bill and President Obama?
Yeah. That one.
Chris Matthews tore into David Plouffe last night. I was mildly surprised. He treated him as though he was a right wing nutcase. Plouffe choked on his disgust and endured the interview anyway, refusing to let Tweety put words in his mouth. It was quite the exchange. Afterwards, Tweety was so self conscious, he wondered why David was upset with him. All I kept saying was "watch the tape you fucking moron!"
The Clintons are being elevated right now. Their peeps are showing up on all the networks all the time.
Something is amiss.
rikyrah
I'm going to find that clip, Craig. Thanks.
Monie
Something is truly amiss.
Funny thing is, last month Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), who is a one of the main sponsors for the proposed Respect for Marriage Act had a press release PRAISING former President Bill Clinton and of all people, former Congressman Bob Barr, who introduced DOMA in the first place.
Here's what Bill Clinton had to say
Today, President Clinton said: “I want to thank Congressman Nadler for his leadership on this issue, and Reps. Baldwin, Polis, Conyers, Lewis, Velazquez and Lee, for introducing the Respect for Marriage Act in the House of Representatives. Throughout my life I have opposed discrimination of any kind. When the Defense of Marriage Act was passed, gay couples could not marry anywhere in the United States or the world for that matter. Thirteen years later, the fabric of our country has changed, and so should this policy.”
I wonder did the progressives, who are now on a boycotting mission, erupt in anger when they read Clinton words...call him the same names they bestow on the President day in, day out. The same man who signed INTO LAW DOMA, DADT, and ENDA.
They expect the Black man to clean up after all the white presidents.
Clinton created this mess and Obama is supposed to snap his fingers and make it all better. Overnight.
They can kiss my Black ass and go jump in FireDogLake.
aleth
Agreed 10000000%%%%
They have all found their black slave they want to control. I tell folks at the end of the day Obama will be fine, last i remember Carter was doing well and Bush etc...
What the fuck is a progressive? I almost feel their actions are based on how they feel at a particular moment.
