Sorry, but I meant to include this in the above comments.

Even the other news organizations consider Fox to be better at getting scoops in the White House. This was in the New York Times today. Here is a quote:

"Executives at other news organizations, including The New York Times, had publicly said that their newsrooms had not been fast enough in following stories that Fox News, to the administration’s chagrin, had been heavily covering through the summer and early fall"

First ID, how many conservatives do you even talk to? Secondly, since the audience for Fox is the largest of the cable news channels, I would bet more than simply “normal” conservatives watch it. That said, I hardly ever watch Fox News. I prefer radio, and the 'net. (I try to leave the 50″ for something worth SEEing- literally.) But what I do know is that there is news and there is commentary. I hear Fox new some of it's radio affiliates, and they report NEWS. There is no more explicit opinion there than you would hear from CBS or ABC, or Mutual News (if they're still around…).

As for the Cable network, I agree that Fox has a conservative/libertarian bent. The info-tainment programming is exclusively hosted by conservatives, and it's about time. Until 1996, legitimate conservatives were either outnumbered or missing entirely. The news reporting, however is just plain old news. In fact, by the time other mainstream (defined by volume of audience, not opinions) outlets even picked up stories on ACORN and Van Jones, the stories reported exclusively by Fox had already gotten Jones fired, and ACORN de-funded. How can you write that off just because their COMMENTATORS are of a different opinion?

I'm sorry, but Pres. Obama is correct. Everyone knows that Fox news is not a serious news outlet, and that's based on opinion. Pres. Obama is not shutting down the Fox Network, he is simply choosing not to speak with them. What's hard about that? Second, I'm so sick of people stoking that first amendment to parade their ignorance and goonery. I am proud that Pres. Obama is one of the few Democrats with the courage to push back at Fox News instead of taking their abuse and pretending like its We are the World. Hell, I didn't see Bush once on MSNBC, and no one complained about it. The Bush Whitehouse use to sell its talking points to Fox News before other news outlets, and where was the outrage. Hey, Fox has behaved like a bully, and now its getting pushed back. The End

That you actually believe Fox News is a reputable news organization–when they themselves have admitted being far from it–is laughable. And sad. Most normal conservatives shun the network.

dj, it wasn't correct then and it is not correct now. Drawing moral equivalencies doesn't justify the actions of WH and like I said it is a losing battle. How in world are they going to delegitamize a network that is destroying the other ones in the ratings. They are making Fox look like some sort of “victim” that the left-wing is ganging up on. It's stupid on so many levels. Ignore them but don't comment on them.

But where was the outrage when the bush cabal boycotted MSNBC and shut out the NY Times?Remember when nixon declared war on the NY Times and the Wash.Post over the Pentagon Papers?Every part of media has their point of view.Hell I love the Chicago Tribune even though its a conservative newspaper.Why because they dont make shit up or try to make news.They report the facts with no bias and then in their editorial pages gave their opinion.Fox doesn't make that distinction and they should be treated as such.
