Well kiddies, ol' holy Joe got all of his old time union buddies together and decalred himself an INDEPENDENT and entered the general election. With the help of the good old Democratic union leaders, holy Joe waged a tough door to door street campaign calling on all those old time Pratt & Whitney buddies to work for him. Holy Joe went from being 20 points down in the polls to finish better than 8 points ahead of Lamont. The Lamont people were so sure that their man was all set they put him on the late night TV circuit as the guy who kicked Holy Joe out of Washington. At this point it was politically immature Democrats and old time card carrying union type Democrats that actually enabled independent Joe Lieberman to win his current Senate seat. NO REPUBLICAN WAS INVOLVED. (After Holy Joe declared himself an independent, Republican money came in to help finance his street campaign.)

No let's get to the last group of Democrats that enabled Holy Joe to stay in the DEmocratic Caucus and to keep his chairmanship. It started with Harry Reid who said that the Holy Joe sshould stay in the Caucus as he would most likely vote with the Democrats anyway. But when it came to the final vote to allow independent Liebermen into the Caucus, Harry was not alone. Just look at the vote total it was virtually every Democratic Senator voting for Lieberman. When Lieberman joined the McCain campaign (hoping for a VP nod) and he actively slandered the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, there was a lot of talk about Ried taking away Holy Joe's Chairmanship. Harry Reid defended Holy Joe by saying that the Democrats needed Lieberman's vote on domestic legislation. Well guess what, that observation made it a hat trick for holy Joe and suddenly all of the Democrats are outraged that Lieberman announced that he will join the republican opposition to the Democratic health bill in the Senate.

So to all you Democrats out there, I have one question….When was the last time that you actually saw a leopard change the color of his spots, or take them off altogether?

I agree RobM — I'm happy to eat crow if Burris can make a difference. And would be happy to see him get an island ambassadorship…

Speaking for myself, I may end up eating crow but I know Burris made the public option happen. Hope he gets a nice ambassadorship in the islands in 2013.

the two of us seem to be getting the most chuckles out of this turn of events. and, listening to Burris on local talk radio, he makes absolute sense as to why he supports the Public Option, in clear, concise language.
