Amen!. They have to give reason to her brillance, her beauty, her leadership, her elegance and the fact that “SHE SPEAKS SO WELL. Oh now we know it's those “white” genes that have made her what she is. STFU! If you look far enough back you will find one in everybody's family and while many find this a godsend, I find it a insult. I give credit to Mr and Mrs Robinson and the desire of Mrs. Obama, herself for the woman she is today and that's as far back as I need to go. Does this article make her more acceptable to the wingnuts of America. They can go sell crazy somewhere else because I couldn't care less about this one they dug up to show their impact of our First Lady.

This is about America claiming the Obama's for themselves…they are making sure their greatness is attributed to their European ancestry.

They want the world to know that America has reclaim the children they sold…now they are a fabric of America life and living in the highest eschelons of the society..but history will show they belonged to the Europeans all along…they were simply lost children…now being brought home and into the fold.

Thus the glossing over of the brutality and abuse as well as raping of Michelle's ancestry…that is too shameful to recall…it is time for redemption and forgiveness because America has put the flesh and blood they sold in the White House!

Sweetheart, it does not matter if you are dark skinned or light skin you can still be mixed with something. I have been doing genealogy since the late 1980's. On my father's side of the family, most people would know from looking at him that there are whites in the family. In fact, my dad used to pass for white when it was beneficial to provide for us. My mother is a dark-skin woman and a shade darker than Michelle Obama but there are just as many whites on her side as it is on my dad's side of the family.

I also agree that this is a bit anti-climactic. The piece also glosses over the tragedy and violence of slavery and in particular how Michelle's ancestor was raped and abused by the man who "fathered" her child.

Skin color has little to do with it. Between the normal chromosomal reassortment at syzygy, and the occasional recombination event, one could have deeply pigmented skin and significant European or Native American other-than-skin-color determining genes, especially here in America where we've had well over 350 years to stir the pot.

So one white ancestor means that Michelle is intelligent? Please.

I think that this is of some interest with Michelle and her mother, because now they know for sure. But otherwise, when they talk about interracing at that time, a lot of it was rape and only in a few cases was it consenting–and love.
