It' not within the GOP's interest to help Obama with anything. He needs to realize the 'bi-partisan call" is not going to be heeded-ever.

The "bi-partisian call" is a political strategy and Obama is a brilliant politician. The largest group of voters (a historic high) currently are independents, many of whom are former liberal and moderate republicans. These people in polls always say they want bipartisanship, pragmatism and care less about ideology, so as long as Obama keeps reaching out even if he gets rebuffed everytime while solving problems, he can at least break even with them. So be prepared to hear a "bi-partisan call" on every issue.

You've seen what it has gotten him so far: nothing. We need some bully and less pulpit. This is no time for Freddy friendly. People care about results. Obama is pretty short on those so far. If things don't improve by 2010, the voters will punish the party in power.

Well, why aren't the Republicans being punished instead of being extended an Olive branch. They did enough damage to this country to promote centuries of clean up. And as soon as it's cleaned up the nation will vote them right back into power. Sometimes I think the Democratic Party no longer knows how to win. They know what needs to be done and they keep pussyfooting around with a group of Republicans who want nothing for this country but to continue to make it into a country of the "haves and havenots". They make my stomach sick. Do what needs to be done and leave these lying hypocrits along the wayside where they need to be. We have seen the true face of the Republican party....stop trying to pull them in. I don't want them in. They destroyed the last eight years, why would anyone want their input during this administration. And I am real sick of those "Blue Dog Democrats" who are nothing more than closeted republicans.

Now that we agree on. Although I'll say that he may already know that call isn't going to be heeded.
