Get the Bills out already. I am praying REID does not have the votes, I don't want an OPT OUT period AND I don't trust REID. I rather settle for any of the PO from the Congress in the final Bill. Obama had a plan and he is following through his way.

That's right, all this oh fight for public option, by what threaten all the senators with a VETO? Do you think the Senators especially the bill dogs give a rats ass. Bush/Clinton-NAFTA/Reagan had it easy because his programs where for the elite, those SENATORs have to think about their money for election.
Whatever REID has in the bill is not the final word but REID is trying to make his bill the final word with the so called OPT OUT. I don't like it nor do I trust it.

1. He will be double crossed by either Nelson, Liberman, Landrieu, Lincoln. Thus Senate bill does not go through on the first try, Obama looses momentum on reform.

2. He does not have enough VOTES

3. He gets it through with an agreement from the blue dogs that during conference he ensures the final public option in the bill is an OPT OUT which is terrible….Besides what are the conditions of how the opt out works.
See that is what I HATE about the so called progressives—- highly reactionary and never reflect on the logisitics….I have not seen Schumers condition of how the opt out will work. That is the key……

What the fuck is the opt out? This is crucial. Instead progressives jump at just the mention of progressive.

What I'm not sure on is for people like Nelson(NE), Landrieu(LO), Lincoln(AR), would they still vote for cloture if the bill has a PO without the opt-out.

To me the real fight is how to pay for it. The Senate doesn't support the higher taxes that the house uses, and the house is against the fees on insurance companies that the Senate uses. The unions are against the fees on high end plans offered by the insurance companies. The unions also support the PO, but I don't see how they get both in the final legislation.

Maybe not, LOL. I, like most other people, am not as attuned to the “chess” as you all seem to be. And remember, “most people” are the ones who will determine whether or not the President gets to have a second term. We actually have to be convinced as to why Huffpo is wrong, and “She married a gay man” isn't the way to convince us.

And no- it wasn't about the President leading Congress, but leading on the issue. What has been repeatedly said is that no one should put pressure on the President over this issue. You all said the pressure should be put on Congress. Well, if he's exempt from pressure, he is by definition not a leader. Which is it?

Does the President actually favor the trigger? If so, why is it acceptable? Does he not favor it? If not, what evidence proves that conclusively? Is he playing chess? If so, what is this particular move all about? That's what's relevant to me. Arianna Huffington may well be as unfair as you all say, but that doesn't answer those questions.

What's rich is that, you misconstrued what was stated and do not even GET why HuffPO is wrong. First, no one said the President should not lead. What was clearly and repeatedly stated was that based on the US Constitution we have THREE co-EQUAL branches of government..ergo..the President DOES NOT lead Congress..they are a wholly separate, independent branch of the UNITE STATES government. Something most folks learn in Civics in 8th grade.

Second, IF Obama were to 'lead' Congress HuffPO would have a red headline blaring…EMPERIOUS Obama.

LASTLY, HuffPo, knows DAMN well that it is UNCONSTITIONAL for the President to lead Congress. So the entire headline is bogus and an assualt on the Obama administration to paint it as ineffective based on a false premise!!
