I don't have cable, but I know that many Latinos in my sphere of influence think that this series has focused more on the stereotypes than the positive. But I agree with Kyle, you cannot mention LIA without including bastadobbs.com.

Soledad O Brian missed the boat here in both of her series about blacks and Latinos in America. In the case of Latinos, she completely missed the boat with regards to those who have black skin. Personally, I have never made the distinction
between black Latinos and nonblack Latinos. The term “Afrolatino” Americans
must be something invented for this series! A Dominican is a Dominican. A Cuban
is a Cuban. A Mexican is a Mexican etc. Just as there is a spectrum of complexions in the African American community , so there is in the Latino
community. I think some Latinos who have black skin in the United States get social pressure to identify with African Americans even though culturally they share little with them except skin color . It is a shame that Soledad O Brian didnt really touch on this issue.
