Even more proof the President needs to say something about intolerance and racism.

Stop filling your head w/ nonsense. If you do not believe that there is a way to confront racism and intolerance on the part of the President you are as stupid as the birthers. I have provided you w/ ideas and term>I even like the idea of having his surogates from a war room attack them. Instead from the WH outright denials that a former southern President is wrong, plausible deniablity from the President and crickets. That is the definition of cowardice.

All it takes is for good men to do nothing for evil to work in the world. If the actions against President Obama aren't evil you do not know what is.

I have not suggested screaming racism. What I have done is give you a clear and cogent method for attacking the enablers and racism. All you do is call for the wahmbulance.

The President has plenty of ways to talk about racism. I have given you many. The fact is the President is a coward not because it is distracting he can't handle the issue except as some esoteric professorial thought. He had his chance and bailed.

I don't think Obama can successfully pull off a speech or talk about racism and intolerance. I am trying to find a metaphor to explain why and I am, at this point, SOL. I don't think Joseph Heller's great term for a “no win situation” Catch 22 applies nor does Gregory Bateson's theory of the double bind contradiction. What I am looking for here is something more deeply rooted and tethered to our historical situation and experiences as African Americans in this vast and troubled land. The problem, in part, and this is the great rub too, is that when he speaks he must also speak to and for those who intend to do him, his family and us harm. He cannot avoid speaking to them and for them and, unfortunately, they are far beyond the pale. I don't see how he can bridge that gap, He may want to but the leap is so great that it is impossible to attain enough momentum to land on the other side of the chasm.

I understand your concerns and the level of difficulty involved. I do believe we can create a strategy to address this issue and dilemma.
One, the WH has to get its war room/communication house in order.
Two, surrogates have to be given a freer leash to talk. Yes I know Joe is a train wreck but he should be out on the stump. We are starting to see Michelle talking about the issues as well.
Three, the talk against intolerance must be rooted in history. I would start w/ the Hitler analogy
a) it is a good place to start becasue the right bloggers have long argued that using Hitler as an example against Bush meant your argument was illegimate. I agree. so put it in their face.
b) AA's were considered untermensch by Hitler so how does the argument do anything to express legitimate debate on any issue?
1 Death panels are one a policy introduced by Republicans in the 90's so how do they continue to say nothing? so I am using a Republican idea and I'm the bad guy(c'mon on folks!). How is this not vitriol to avoid doing the business of Congress?
2 Death panels conjour up the Holocaust! How can any responsible American believe the Republican Party introduced industrialized death in the 1990's into the medicare bill.
2a I'll go there. How can Rep Cantor w/ x number of holocaust surviors whom have suffered from death panels stay silent? Isn't he familiar w/ Ellie Weisel's statement that all it makes for evil to prevail is for good men to say nothing?
3 How many Americans died to fight the evil that was Hitler? How many AA's took up the cause to end this evil despite segregation and in equality at home? Is this how we honor our men and women of the military by denigrating the cause they gave their lives for?
4 Why is it that the leaders of the Republican Party do not decry these acts of intolerance and ignorance which is the basis of racism and lead to actions against OUR citizens?

These are going to by the basis for the speech I'd write for the President. the only issue know is how to deal w/ his pooh poohing of the racial compotent?
