I was sad when I heard the news that he had passed. I too had the biggest crush on him. I fell for him in North and South and Ghost only strengthened my love of him. He will be remembered.

I have a Patrick Swayze memory as well.

If you have DVD, rent the movie, "Keeping Mum". It is a British comedy with Rowan Atkinson ("Mr. Bean") as an idle-minded minister who has no idea that his wife (Kristin Scott Thomas) is playing around with the American golf-pro (Swayze), and the benign housekeeper (Maggie Smith) who "suddenly" helps the Vicar to get his house in order. Came across the movie channel surfing one day after I got back from England and was still jonesing on things British.

I'm glad I got to see the movie - he did it while he was in his battle with cancer.

I thought he'd beat this. And, Rikyrah, the icons of my youth going has made it a rough summer indeed.

I sported that "Farrah Flip" in the 70s and 80s. I was "in love" with Michael Jackson (until he decided he didn't like his looks anymore), and "Ghost" was a love story that couldn't be beat.

R.I.P. Patrick and condolences to his wife, Lisa and his family.

And he was married to the same woman for 34 years! Wow.

RIP Patrick Swayze

I too remember him as Orry Main in North & South. He was a talented entertainer. His dancing and acting skills were great but his drive and desire to stand up tp this dreaded disease meant even more. RIP Patrick Swaze.

Patrick Swayze showed modern medicine that a strong spirit can outlive cancer prognoses big time.

However, to survive cancer, you have to do everything right:

believe you can battle cancer +
modern medicine +
alternative medicine +
live healthy +
reduce stress +
increase love , or like Patrick Swayze said:
"you gotta have a dog".

Oh my goodness, I keep thinking about that "Chippendales" skit Patrick did with Chris Farley on SNL. Both men gone before their time.

I liked Patrick's movies too.

Your posts are making me sadder...and to think he had to put up with one of the cruelist and most painful of cancers makes my heart heavy. I have watched two people die with it and it is not gentle.

No matter how many times Ive seen that movie Ghost the ending always manages to make me cry. This time was no different.

John Hughes provided the movie touchstones of teen angst.

Swayze made this little Black girl swoon with all the other Black girls that were sitting in the theater, over and over, watching Dirty Dancing.

I was a little Black girl that had the 'Farrah Flip'.

Dang. You're speaking of this Black girl, too.

I'm with you. I kid you not, me and my little sister Jessica used to recreate the final dance from Dirty Dancing, lift and all. (Til her bones got too heavy, and I couldn't lift her heavy boned azz...LOL)

this is just sad. I"m trying to study for a test, but now my mind is completely shot.

I was joking about 2 weeks ago with my supervisor an some fellow employees that I was gonna have to take a "personal" day when Patrick Swazye died. I was kidding, but damn if I'm not sadder than I thought.

Damnit!!!! I have the pic of Baby & Johnny as my screen saver on both of my labtops (now I have Michelle Obama on the newest one, but I"m gonna have to change back to Baby & Johnny in tribute to Patrick Swayze.
