Glenn Beck is a clown and a moron. I am a Mulatto male myself and I know what Pres. Obama was saying when he talked about his Grandma. My grandparents wouldn't even see me and my sister until I was 4 and she was 3. Why because they were raised to believe that Black people was bad and that blacks and whites should never live together or get married. Hell my mothers grandparents never met us and her grandmother never even knew that my mom married. My moms grandfather told my mom if she ever told her she would be disowned. That was how people in those days was raised. It wasn't their fault their parents raised them like that, just like those kids that you see at KKK rallies today. But I must say, my grandparents finally came around and learned that what they were taught was wrong. My parents loved one and other and was together for 43 yrs up until my mom died last year. One day Martin Luther Kings dream will come true. I see it in the eyes of our children and teens today. They dont have the same hang ups that we have and we dont have the same ones our parents had. And soon, very soon, racism will be just like slavery, DIED.

Some of the posters here will break into the same histrionics and unintelligible babble (which he did BTW) if I tell you a black person is racist. I heard Mark Thompson explain that on MIP 4 or 5 times and it still sounds less than intelligent, but hey my non-brown life so far hasn't taught me any ethics, logic or thinking skills, right? Beck is the bogey man here no doubt, but JJP has some that occupy the other side of the coin judging from the commentary.

My answer is stolen from lizadiamond above: White culture is nothing. Compared to other cultures, worldwide and time immortal, generic white folks in this country today don't have much to call culture (wikepedia-culture: the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group).

Wow. Simply stated I do not agree with Beck one bit. I disagree with more of you morons posting on here though. There are a few intelligent, well thought out rants, and then the rest. Anyone who can say with such certainty that there is no such thing as "white culture" are equally as troubling as with those that feel the way Mr. Beck does. What is "Black culture" then? What is "Hispanic culture" then? Asian? Indo-Asian? Arabic? Jewish? Everyone is part of a culture. You must accept that as fact. I do know this, "white" people come from all over Europe. Some from Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Czech so on and so forth. When most of those families assimilated into the American culture so many of them held on dearly to a sense of cultural identity. Many to this day. Even more have created their own within our communities unknowingly. As a resident of NYC I consider myself and my fellow city dwellers to be a bit more socially accepting and understanding of these vastly different cultures then lets say...a Mormon...from rural Washington state. Or a bigot in front of his/her keyboard. Let's move on and leave Mr. Beck and the rest of the stragglers behind.

America has often been refered to, as being a melting-pot. With its many races,ethnicities, soical classes, cultures, and religions. However since the election of President Obama. The proverbial Melting Pot. Has started to boil over.

The Becks, Limbaughs,O'reillys,Dobbs,Buchanans,and Fox News have been responsible for turning up the heat . If these idiots continue their vitriolic rhetoric. This country could very well descend into a race war.

The indicators point to increase activity amongst certain radical right wing extremist groups. This country cannot fight two wars abroad, and chaos from within. These groups are domestic terrorist, and their goals are specific.

To challenge the goverment on every front. To reclaim a country that they feel has been taken from them. And to purge the country of Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and any other Non-whites.

Why ask a dipshyt to define something he has no knowledge of?

The biggest danger regarding Beck to the US, is the mainstreaming of extremist ideology. Even more destructive was his claim that health care reform (espoused by ever dem since FDR) was about reparations. This was a blatant attempt to incite race based opposition to a potential policy. (This was particularly ridiculous considering Obama was criticized in the past by black pols for being against any form of reparations.) No major GOP figure including Micheal Steele were pushed to question or denounce this statement.

He is evil. I see it in his eyes. He has icy blue eyes just like Michelle Bachman. I know blue eyes. My eyes are blue ~`true blue'. My Irish family are all blue-eyed - not an 'evil eye' among them. That being said, Beck is an evil racist who speaks to his fellow 'ghouls' in the KKK over the public airwaves. FCC are you listening? His listeners are the Birthers. The Teabaggers. Unfortunately. their numbers are many ~ we need to stand up and speak out against these Murdock led traitors at Faux 'news'. Check out Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert on any given day. It amazes me that someone lacking in intelligence to the degree Glenn Beck is gets to have their own show. If you can't stand by what you say then why say it at all?

Well, I for one, don't know exactly what's meant by "white culture" because I would think most white folks identify with their cultural heritage, in which ours is Scot-Irish, French, & Norwegian.

I think Town has more of a handle on it than anyone. It is white Puritanical christian culture that has warped fucking everything they've come in contact with. It's ALL about exclusion whether it involves the color of your skin or your choice in how you worship your 'god.' It's a separateness that never stands below or alongside, but above. Always above.

And notice how he immediately begins to deflect the question by going after Katie Couric's "motives" - getting a sound bite or putting poor Glenny in a tight spot; and, then he continues deflecting, talking about sound bites.

There is no answer, save this: in America, "white culture" is the practice of excluding people who aren't white from your immediate life sphere. It has been done there, since the late 19th Century. Systematically, Blacks have been excluded from whole counties, cities, suburbs, professions, labour, you name it. This has also been done to Jewis, Latin-Americans and First Nations, but no one has borne the brunt more than Blacks. That is what this man is really talking about. That is why ACORN has been attacked. That is why Glenn Dreck says President Obama is a racist. How dare anyone address the racial disparities that exist in America and have historically been pursued for the sake of reifying "white culture"? How dare anyone call these people out on their truculence and arrogance? After all, the economic order of things is an upside down pyramid, with a few on the top and everybody else on the bottom holding the whole evil enterprise up.

"White culture" then, is a fascism which demands that some should have all the cream, by virtue of the colour of their skin. Everybody else gets to churn the cream. That is something "white culture" is built upon: the labour of those it marginalizes.

Beck is nothing more than one of the many entertainers at Fake News. Except it's vile entertainment based on lies and racism from a sociopath who is making serious pimp money. Anybody with even half a brain (that would exempt birthers, your basic drooling, t-shirted, knuckle dragging, CAT hat wearing teabaggers and most of the elected GOP) knows he a fake.

"White culture" is AMERICAN Christian culture. American Christian culture is white culture. Anything blacks, latinos, native americans, asians, muslims, jews, buddhists, etc. do is NOT American in his and his followers' opinions.

I agree with that theory if I think on it hard enough. To randomly spew so many epithets makes it difficult. Imagine asking the worst of the worst to "tell me about the time you said ni773r in 1965 - what did you mean by that." It can only be answered generally, not specifically since it's meant to hurt or incite, not to really define. The unfortunate thing is that, yes, a large enough percentage of folks to justify company's spending ad dollars to run in his slot. That money is amoral running to profit and away from drama. The boycott is drama, so some drop. Others weather. And maybe a few are actually corporate ideologues, but imagine any company saying, "yes, we are glad to promote white culture." There's no way to say that and have the words read simply as they're written. There is white culture, but not in the way he meant it. In a base, non-political definition as possible, white culture could be approximated as the popular definition of Americana. By right, Black is Americana, but if it were, then Whitney Houston, for example, in her heydey (glad she's back!), or Denzel, or Cosby would be considered American fabric, not just black icons. Cosby almost got there, but he's still, in my opinion, relegated to asterisk Americana, i.e. in popular thought (yes, I'm assuming here) considered "a great Black American" but not just a great American. We probably won't ever be that. A shame since white culture, black culture at their best do inform and grow each other and have done so in the worst of times.
