WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 16, 2009 19:45 EDT Now Bill Cosby weighs in on Carter's side of race issue
Comedian Bill Cosby has gotten a lot of praise on the right for his fairly conservative take on race and racial relations in the U.S. recently. And he hasn't been afraid to take on President Obama on those issues, either; after Obama said police had acted "stupidly" in arresting Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., Cosby said he was "shocked." Conservatives aren't likely to enjoy Cosby's latest statement about race quite so much. On his Facebook page, the comedian had this to say about former President Carter's allegation that racism is behind much of the animosity towards Obama, and about Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.: I agree with President Carter that racism is playing a role in recent outbursts against President Obama. During President Obama’s speech on the status of health care reform, some members of congress engaged in a public display of disrespect. While one Representative hurled the now infamous “you lie” insult at the President, others made their lack of interest known by exhibiting rude behavior such as deliberately yawning and sending text messages .... Various polls prior to the election indicated that between five and ten percent of Americans would never vote for an African American president. That number, of course, only includes those who actually admitted to their prejudice. How many others harbored such feelings but did not respond honestly when asked the question? And how many people oppose Obama’s plan because the President is African American? In "Birth of a Nation," D.W. Griffith used white actors in black face to portray black legislators as having low intelligence and acting like fools. Today, we have a band of real life congressional fools seemingly bent on blocking any meaningful reform of the health care system. But if we allow even one American to die simply because he or she cannot afford treatment, we are creating a shameful scenario that could aptly be called “Death of a Nation.”
I'm watching the Daily Show and after the first break there are 10 minutes of a timelife.com commercial of the top romantic songs from the 70s. Is this happening for anybody else?
ch555x
Probably a glitch. I remember when I was a kid, I was watching cartoons one morning (snow day) and a Lucky Charms commercial came on during the break. Someone must have pushed the repeat button 'cause it played over and over for about 5 minutes...o_O

Van Jones Breaks Silence On Resignation: 'Nothing But Love For Obama'
My family and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support that we have received over the past week or so. I resigned from the White House on Sept. 6, and I have remained silent since then--in keeping with my promise not to be a distraction during a key moment in the Obama Presidency.
Over the past several days, however, many people have been asking how they can help and what they can do.
The main thing is this: please do everything you can to support both President Obama and the green jobs movement. Winning real change is ultimately the best response to these kinds of smear campaigns.
I ask everyone to:
1. Support President Obama's efforts to fix our nation's health care, energy and education systems. His victory last fall did not represent the "finish line" in the fight to renew America; his election was just the "starting line." This autumn, it is time to make history again--with victories on health care and clean energy.
Sign up to support groups that are working for green jobs
. Spread the green jobs gospel. The ideas and ideals of the green jobs movement are grounded in fundamental American values--innovation, entrepreneurship, and equal opportunity. My true thoughts can be found in my book: The Green Collar Economy. Check it out from the library--or order a copy and share it with a friend. See for yourself why clean energy and green jobs are good for our country.

I just want to make this comment about Jay Leno coming on at 10pm (EST) 9pm (CST). For years, networks had tremendous success with AA sitcoms, Cosby, Sandford & Son, The Jeffersons, Good Times. All of theses shows were successful.
Now, that these network tv producers have concluded that outside of reality tv no other programming will work. And I watch cable news 90% of the time but I do surf just to see if anything is appealing. To me Jay Leno isn't funny and the demographic that he appeals to is limited. So, why do they think he is going to be successful. The only reason his opening night was successful was because of Kanye's appearance. I think NBC just boosted the local news' ratings. I can't believe there was no other programming that would have been successful at this hour. Guess we'll see.
Bianca45
Yeah, Leno was never funny, quite offense most of the time. The only reason he sustained halfway decent ratings was b/c we carried the Tonight Show mantle. Conan was always better.
For NBC, it's not about being more successful. It's about being cheaper. The Leno show will cost 1/3 of what a scripted show costs.
I tivo'd it on Monday. I tivo'd it again on Tuesday just to be sure. That show sucks. NBC is in trouble...the network of Morning Joke has screwed itself again...they'll be praying to the Almighty G for a new age "Cosby SHow" to save their asses.
The critics savaged Jay Leno's prime-time experiment. Viewers gave it the biggest audience for an entertainment show since the "American Idol" finale in May.
What's next is anybody's guess.
Robert Bianco of USA Today slammed it as a "cut-rate, snooze-inducing rehashed bore."
The Associated Press' Frazier Moore identified "the biggest difference between Leno's new show and his old one: With his fade-out at 11 p.m., the local news began."
The Los Angeles Times' Mary McNamara called the show "a strange, shallow puddle of comedy."
"This is the future of television?" she wrote. "This wasn't even a good rendition of television past."
"The future of `The Jay Leno Show' is likely to look almost exactly like `The Tonight Show' past," complained Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times. "So much ink has been devoted to describing how Mr. Leno's new show would depart from his old one that it was startling to see how little difference there was."
One viewer tweeted, however, that he wished West had taken Leno's microphone instead of Swift's.
The biggest problem for Leno was that the show wasn't really funny, wrote St. Petersburg Times columnist Eric Deggans. "Who knew that might be the biggest challenge for a guy once known as the King of Late Night Comedy?" he said.
Seeeeeeee! THEY KNOW!! :>) :>)
MISSIN' U! :>) MUCH LUV!! :>)

D,
You might wanna tell Bob McDonnell that if he hopes to make inroads in the black communities of Virginia, he might not want to have Confederate flags set up in his booth/near his booth/around his booth:
We will continue to stay focused on jobs, the economy, public safety, transportation, education and government reform. And we will leave the errant, divisive, and distracting attacks to Creigh Deeds.
...and apparently, some posters on JJP as well.
Here's the WaPo story that flushes that one. Oh, and by the way, that little incident came close to getting Deeds' campaign manager flushed as well. So that theme actually turned out quite well for them.
Nice job just posting the picture and not the actual blog post, where Ben's own readers say this is full of crap.
Again, when you have no ideas, no plans, and no vision, you're left to create fiction. Least you could do is create good fiction.
You're slipping, Town. I really do expect better from you.
Town
I'm trying to understand how you think McDonnell is supposed to make inroads in the black community while flying Confederate flags with the white community.
You really think black people in RICHMOND, the capital of the CONFEDERACY want to see their governor co-signing the Confederate flag? We're just now recovering from Sen. Macaca, we don't need this shit again.
Town, this one's already been thoroughly debunked. Even the Deeds campaign backed away from it and threw the campaign manager under the bus, calling it "a personal tweet" and not related to the campaign.
There's no "there" here.
Monie
I still want to know did McDonnell think that it was ethical/fair to except all that money from the RSCC into his campaign in 2005.....he has never fessed up.....honestly I'd like him to make a public statement about it,.
He wrote a thesis, very clearly stating his position on the social behavior he felt should be the standard for other folks.....how about he talk about the money funneling he has been so silent on?.
BTW, I thought McDonnell was supposedly running a campaign based on Virginia's issues...why did I see a web ad approved by his campaign with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's face....does he really want to start making parallels because we can trump out the sorry ass Republican brand with Limbaugh, Joe Wilson, Bush, Cheney and even hanky head Steele in the mix....even Jim Gilmore. He never admits to being a Repubican in his ads,
You betta be glad a sista like me ain't running Creigh Deed's campaign.
I tried to. it started an hour after I expected & the video link wasn't working @ the office.
I don't suppose either candidate would be posting it online? If they truly wanted the public to pay attention, it wouldn't be scheduled for 11am on a Thursday.
We had a link up to a livestream of it. I watched from the house.
I think that's when it's always been.
If you can get out of NOVA on Tues., there's a forum in Richmond that night.

Wow, this is cause for cautious optimism: Buried in a new Bloomberg poll is evidence that solid majorities dismiss all the leading right wing health care talking points as “scare tactics.”
Not kidding! It’s true. The poll tested a range of attacks and asked whether they were “legitimate” or a “disortion” and a “scare tactic.” The results:
* Sixty-three percent said the claim that “death panels of government officials would decide how much medical care ailing individuals will receive” is a scare tactic, versus 30% who said it’s legit.
* Fifty-nine percent said the claim that “health care would be rationed” is a scare tactic, versus 35% who said it’s legit.
* Fifty-two percent said the claim that “health care would become socialized medicine” is a scare tactic, versus 43% who said it’s legit.
* Sixty-one percent said the claim that “government money would be used to pay for abortions” is a scare tactic, versus 33% who said it’s legit.
* Fifty-eight percent said the claim that “government money would pay for health care for illegal immigrants” is a scare tactic, versus 37% who said it’s legit.
How to square these numbers with other polls showing a far more credulous public? My bet is that by explicitly offering people the choice of seeing an assertion as a “scare tactic,” it encourages far more skepticism than polls that merely ask whether people agree with the claims.
Of course, it’s worth noting that in response to the attacks, the Senate finance committe bill dropped the public option, nixed end of life counseling and tightened up restrictions on illegal immigrants. In other words, even if the right type of cajoling can get folks to dismiss the nonsense as bogus, it won’t stop the assertions from shaping the legislation.
Wellllll, at least SOME PEOPLE are considering who the REAL LIARS R!!
ch555x
I hope this puts this "fair and balanced" schtick in its final resting place. Giving airtime to these wacky propositions is plain comedy. You know in the back of your mind that these scare tactics don't exactly register with the general public. Now, there are some actual figures to back that up...SMH!
U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land has thrown out a complaint questioning the president's birth from an Army captain fighting deployment to Iraq and gave a warning to her lawyer, birther maven Orly Taitz.
Land also put attorney Orly Taitz, who represents Capt. Connie Rhodes and is a leader in the national "birther" movement, on notice by stating that she could face sanctions if she ever files a similar "frivolous" lawsuit in his court.
"(Rhodes) has presented no credible evidence and has made no reliable factual allegations to support her unsubstantiated, conclusory allegations and conjecture that President Obama is ineligible to serve as president of the United States," Land states in his order. "Instead, she uses her complaint as a platform for spouting political rhetoric, such as her claims that the president is 'an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, [and] an unqualified imposter.'"
In an interview with Talking Points Memo, Taitz said she would keep fighting if Rhodes wanted to, despite the judge's threat. "Listen, Nelson Mandela stayed in prison for years in order to get to the truth and justice," she said.
In his order, the judge noted that Rhodes had objected only to deployment to Iraq under President Obama, not to serving in the military generally.
Rhodes is not the first soldier to object to overseas deployment on the grounds that Obama is not a legitimate president. Stefan Frederick Cook, a reserve soldier who volunteered for an active duty tour, argued that he should not have to go to Afghanistan for similar reasons to Rhodes. The army revoked his deployment orders.

These numbers were relevant back in the 60s when the majority of Americans received their news through talking heads on television. Alas, even then, the talking heads reported the news in a much more bipartisan fashion. Sadly, the state of reporting died with the likes of Walter Cronkite. Even while I'm far away in the hammock with the cat, and a good book..some losers are still on this site can't help invoking my name.
I adore Naomi(Klein), AND her trust fund. We see eye to eye on a great many things:
The late Latino activist Juan Santos wrote a much-circulated essay during the presidential campaign in which he argued that Obama's unwillingness to talk about race (except when his campaign depended upon it) was a triumph not of post-racialism but of racism, period. Obama's silence, he argued, was the same silence every person of colour in America lives with, understanding that they can be accepted in white society only if they agree not to be angry about racism. "We stay silent, as a rule, on the job. We stay silent, as a rule, in the white world. Barack Obama is the living symbol of our silence. He is our silence writ large. He is our Silence running for president." Santos predicted that "with respect to Black interests, Obama would be a silenced Black ruler: A muzzled Black emperor."
Many of Obama's defenders responded angrily: his silence was a mere electoral strategy, they said. He was doing what it took to make racist white people comfortable voting for a black man. All that would change, of course, when Obama took office. What Obama's decision to boycott Durban demonstrated definitively was that the campaign strategy is also the governing strategy.
But, the hopelessly bird-brained are too worried about SERIOUS things...like whether black women should wear their hair straight or kinky....like how they can string up that nobody who called the President a liar...who by the way raised millions in a backlash. The hopelessly horny, and closeted lesbians are wearing Obama fabric while 9 million AA's don't have healthcare...'cause that's what counts!

Why she so mad because Luxuriate gave somebody else some fabric?
Then Obama should be "BLACKS"'s savior? Is that fair? Even if NOT, can he? "BLACKS" in the USA may actually be the sole community in the West that is away detached from its culture and ignorant of its contribution to humanity.
Truth IS racism is a way of thinking, and to THINK is not crime (neither in the bible or koran, both of which i am an ignorant). Dark skinned people only way to defeat racism or reverse racism (failing into it, by believing that yr. are inferior) is to actually rise on our feet, asians today DO not need to beg to europeans (WHITES).
TruthSeeker
Ocyming,
The bible and the Koran do not support the act of independent thought. They tell people WHAT to think. They attempt to impose belief. Those religious texts do not encourage you to observe, then come to your own conclusions. It could be argued, that the various writers of religious texts were thinking within the bounds of available knowledge of that time...but modern people know more!
Also, no one said Obama should "save" blacks.. Indeed, what he is currently doing is running full tilt AWAY from what is REASONABLE for him to accomplish in the service of social justice.
The conditions could not have been more favourable for Democrats!...Obama - the negro - got the highest vote of all other Dem presidential candidates. The right wing royally screwed up the economy!...Everybody hated George Bush and Cheney!...
Things couldn't have been more favourable if the stars had aligned themselves to spell out "DEMOCRAT" in the night sky! Yet, there Obama is, pretending to struggle.
I agree that the antidote to racism is a firm belief in one's fundamental equality. Obama, however is not supporting this by repeating the mantra of absent black fathers(though statistics don't support)..and breaking his silence to verbally slap a lame, drunk rapper..while simpering to the obscene right wing.
I never thought I'd say this..but I find him an embarrassment. If I think of the most negative thing I could have believed about candidate Obama...it turns out that he has EXCEEDED that hypothetical low expectation.
I think you ARE shooting at yr. own feet here. With all respect.
I'll repeat WHY should Obama defend "BLACKS"? Does he owe them a dime?
You wrote: Obama, however is not supporting this by repeating the mantra of absent black fathers(though statistics don't support)..and breaking his silence to verbally slap a lame, drunk rapper..while simpering to the obscene right wing.
WHAT?
Should HE parent all afro-americans (i prefer this instead of BLACK)? Can he do that?
Slapping that ignorant untalented rapper is not parenting (a thing he did because he really care. For example Your parents give such interest they give you to strangers?), is not caring? OH, NO. You think he did that to show love to whom? Guess i can imagine! I learned from my parents that you criticize those you love because you care, and ignore those who are Jackass.
Your views mirror those by 70's so called "BLACK" militants, to me they are responsible for the amnesia that plagues afro-americans.
Remember how they cornered jimmy Hendrix? And now most people (include "BLACKS") believe that rock and roll is a "white" art, same with country music and folk.
… And by ignoring that politician he demonstrated the highest signal of strength and moral. You know in politics cowards like to pretend instead of being (which was that politician attitude, after ALL who did tell the lie).
The BEST thing Obama can offer afro-americans IS his courage and HIGH morals, a thing no other USA president dignified, at least James Balwin said so.
TruthSeeker
I'm not clear on some of what you've said here...
Anyway, Kanye is an adult...and it is not Obama's job to comment negatively on everything that a black male in pop culture does. There are some things he might say only to Michelle while they're getting ready for bed...It is almost as if he feels obliged to publicly put blacks(male) in their place for some reason.
Did it ever occur, that Obama is working through his own psychological baggage...about his absent father?
Is Obama parent to only blacks(male) or is he "Father in Chief"?
Michael Jackson was said to have problems, while no mention was made of Kennedy having virtually killed a woman.
It is not moral to demonize progressives. It is not moral to lie. It is not courageous to be the leader of the free world, and slap around a drunk rapper, because he offended a cute little white girl.
REMEMBER.....WHO Kanye offended is the true target of Obama's political calculus in choosing to comment!
Well, if you commented WHY can't he, and do you know WHAT he said to that politician personally?
Politics IS not about gossip you know?
t is almost as if he feels obliged to put blacks in their place for some reason.
I do believe your parents do put you in yr. place from time to time, and i am sure yr. grateful.

I am merely a commenter on a site...an interested, disinterested party, if you will. Obama is The President, and commenting harshly on Kanye, who lost his mother not long ago, and who really just looked pathetic up there on that stage, was not a fair fight.
Well, i am sorry. I am married, i am a painter and sculptor, i love anatomy and beautiful things (cannot stand Microsoft's Windows OS or anything Microsoft as an example or 90% of hip hop and so called Rock nowadays because they lack daring) not only human.
I still believe from what i learn daily that people only criticize those they care about and lie about those they envy.
When someone criticize me i feel grateful. Believe it.

Hmmm..
Criticize those they care about, and lie about those they envy....
Well, I don't know if I agree, but I'll have to think about that.

See the problem that a lot of people don't understand about the POWER of racism. It's not that the Master thinks he is superior to his slave. It's fact that the slave believes he is inferior to his master. And when the slave believes that the Master doesn't need chains or gates. The slave will live his life with an inferiority complex and teach that complex to his offspring. The slave can shake the chains, get educated but it is all for not if he still bows his head in his master's presence. And the cycle never ends. The only way the slave can break the chains of racism is getting back his Master stole from him.....Knowledge of self. Understanding his genesis and becoming embedded in HIS history. Only then will his compass point true and he will look at his brother like himself.
Plantsmantx
So, are you saying that TruthSeeker feels she's inferior to Naomi Klein?
Guns3000
Not at all. I was merely giving a narrative on racism.
Plantsmantx
Ah, ok.
Alexander2
Speak the truth, African Brother.
Naomi Klein is white. Truthseeker is Canadian. But they both know oh so much about blacks in the USA. Is it Fair, you asked? What do detached intellectuals care about fairness? It's all about the hammock, the cat, and the purity of the argument.
TruthSeeker
"Detached Intellectuals"?...as opposed to detached imbeciles?
You see Naomi as not being on your side because she's Canadian, white, and has money? You don't have to be poor to identify with, and fight against the condition of the poor. To be more interested in taking Naomi to task, than to facing what she is saying..seems silly to me.
You are in a ship that is taking on water. Your shipmate says to you "I think we're sinking", but because you don't like his/her financial status, the ways she/he dresses....how big his or her nose is...you throw that shipmate overboard.
Now, you have one fewer set of hands to bail with....and the boat is going down.
I just HAVE to shout out Luxuriate. She sent me the most BEAUTIFUL Obama fabric from Kenya, it's so cool to meet such a beautiful person via the web, and I owe it all to Jack and Jill Polictics!!

Before Kanye acted a fool, California lawmakers passed a another bill inspired by his mother's tragic demise
California Passes "Donda West Law"
September 11th, 2009 | Author: Edwin Ortiz
California state lawmakers have recently passed a bill that will prohibit electronic cosmetic facial surgery without a physical examination being done within 30 days of the procedure.
The bill has been titled the Donda West Law (Kanye West’s mother), who passed away in November of 2007 due to complications following her surgery [click to read]. Shortly after her death, it was revealed that West had not received medical clearance prior to her surgical operation [click to read].
Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter, primary author of the bill, told the Los Angeles Times, “Sometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not. This bill will potentially save lives.”
After approving a few minor changes, the state Assembly will send the bill to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the final decision. Governor Schwarzenegger had vetoed a similar bill last fall
I often wonder, what exactly do you guys tell your children about race and the GOP! Cause listening to MC Steele today, and the rest of 'em, I've gotten feel that some of their children are gonna have a very rude awakening someday. Unless ya'll keep 'em sheltered in the "cocoon" it seems some of them have built around their children in terms of race. Cause you can tell them all about individual responsibility, but correct me if I'm wrong, people with prejudice don't ask you who you voted for first. What I mean is that when that white lady on the elevator clutches her purse, or the store clerk follows you around the store, they sure don't ask you if your a Repulican do they?
I'm not saying it doesn't happen outside the GOP, but it just doesn't seem as blatant elsewhere as it does in the GOP.

WTF!!!! C-span Washington Journal – aired September 16, 2009 Link to the show: http://www.c-span.org/... Find Play entire program - advance to counter at 1:21:25 - Ed is the caller from the state of Louisiana – it was live at 9:21 a.m. Eastern Time.
Ed said, "about the health care issue: uh, it don't make no sense - the slave class does not deserve health care; I mean, uh, you look back over the years, all the way back to when the blacks were the slaves - I mean they don't deserve health care - what kind of sense does that make; uh...anybody will tell you that death is a poor man's doctor...uh--uh, why give the slave class health care? let them work 'til they get too old to work and then let 'em die - don't give 'em health care, that don't make no sense - that's the way it's always worked.
I don't know about you, but letting that pass unremarked is just stunning. Perhaps a note to the Washington Journal is in order here.

Ed has lost his damn mind. He just suggested the President bring those kids who got into a fight on the school bus (the one Limpballs blames on Obama) to the WH to fix the situation. He was serious.
So now Obama to resolve EVERY bullying problem in school. Give.Me.A.Break.
Angelar
no Obama doesn't have to resolve EVERY bullying problem...what about the damn parents stepping up and telling their kids what is right or wrong.
Angelar
What Ed should have asked for is the parents of all those kids on the bus to show up WITH their kids and explain how their behavior was acceptable.
I can tell you right now, that if I ever behaved in the manner of those kids and embarrassed my mother I would have ended up a whimpering beyond belief.
My mother would never have stood by me doing anything violent.

AGREE! Ed Shultz has LOST his FUCKING mind!
Ed's another white liberal who thinks Barack Obama is a fucking puppet who's suppose to work their agenda when, where, how, they want him to. SMFH!

Since when calling people racist IS a reprehension? Just calling anyone a racist makes you look pitiful and in despair. Why not say F*** you instead?
One thing dark skinned should LEARN with O. is that giving importance to ignorants (those you call racist) by calling them racist is a NO brainer discussion.
A racist? So what!?
It diminishes you?
What diminishes you IS believing in What they depict you as.
RobM
The strategy of attacking racism is not best served by calling them racists. You can attack their enablers in the Republican Party. You can make a distinction between vitriol and discussion. You can take take control of the debate by attacking institutional racism. You can talk about racism in the context of Nazi Germany. The President does not have to do it all. He can use surrogates. He can use the CBC, VP Biden, Rep Weiner and all the other Democratic JewishAmerican Congressmen and Senators. He can lay out a plan.
Obama can only fight it, the WAY he is doing. Give a F*** about ignorants and be resolute about you happiness and values. You can only change yourself.

Who's the GOP'er whose head is about to explode? LOL...I was so hoping to see him actually spontaneous combust. "My daddy hated Jimmy Carter!!!!!"....LOL
Lisa M
I was hoping you'd be wrong...but no. Cringe worthy indeed.
Having grown up in a white midwestern republican home, I am all too familiar with the typical lines of attack on your Jacksons and your Sharptons: the relentless focus on race, the affairs and the tax issues, the inclination to open mouth wide and insert foot from the POV of mainstream politics. But for all the pissing and moaning, thats what made the American right OKAY with black politicians - they were first and foremost BLACK, a kind of black that was easy to stereotype and ridicule, one that could be easily tied back to the stereotypes the white majority had about black people.
Oh, how the right would love to make Obama into that, wouldn't they?
As TNC says, what infuriates them is his "ordinary blackness." He just doesn't fit in their box. And if people realize that, if WHITE people realize that he doesn't fit in that box, they might start to think that maybe other black people don't fit in the box, and maybe that box will start to lose its power, and we all know nothing good can come of that if the source of your power is pitting races and racial stereotypes against one another.
Funny how many times I heard people on the anti-Obama right say they just BET Obama would defend Kanye after that silly outburst. They SO wanted Obama to be Kanye, to back that, as the Boondocks would put it, "nigger moment." How disappointed they were when he responded the same way most sane people, and parents of little girls especially, would respond - by calling him a jackass.
Obama has the potential to be transformational in his normalcy. I've thought that since before the primaries began (and his foes knew it, too - remember Bills crack about Jesse Jackson?). The right has to throw everything they've got at him to protect this lovely little racial resentment-based governing construct they've been ruling over, and its pretty clear that they won't hesitate to do just that.
As Sully once said, the only way past this is THROUGH it.... /blockquote>
RobM
Ordinary black people in suits stand in door way of hotels and are treated as servants. Ordinary black people can't get a cab in a major city at night. Ordinary black people in Philadelphia are offered mortgages at high interest rates than ordinary whites w/ the same credit ratings. Ordinary black farmers can't get loans from the USDA.
This author believes institutional racsim doesn't exist. He believes attacks on Black politicians is because they are first or foremost black. he doesn't want to understand when you walk down the street you're Black. It don't rub off. Being black is always ordinary black.
Lastly Sully is a racist teabagging piece of excrement whom has no clue aboout racism in America and believes conservatism permitted his marriage.

There is no racism in America
by Steven D Wed Sep 16th, 2009 at 05:41:53 PM EST I am sick and tired of people saying America discriminates against Blacks. It's absolutely not true. Why, the ancestors of most Blacks in America were given free passage from Africa to America, for chrissakes. I'll bet none of the white immigrants got a free ticket on whatever ship or boat they took to get to America. And then when the blacks got here we provided them with lifetime employment, free meals and even a rudimentary form of social security. White men even offered a full service sexual education to many of those fortunate Black women. What a deal.
And this impressive history of special treatment for Black Americans continues to this day:
Black hospital patients are far less likely to survive cardiac arrest than white patients, new research shows.
And the reason in many cases is that black patients usually go to the hospitals that do the poorest job resuscitating patients.
Just 25.2 percent of black patients who suffered cardiac arrest while they were hospitalized left the hospital alive, according to a study published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association. That compares with 37.4 percent of white patients who survived — a difference of 48 percent.
“That’s huge — larger than any other survival gap by race,” said Paul Chan, a researcher at St. Luke’s Hospital who led the national study. “And it’s poignant because the white survival rate wasn’t very high either.” Many studies have found racial disparities in the quality of health care. Black and Hispanic preschoolers are less likely to receive routine asthma medications than white children. Minority residents of nursing homes are less likely to get glasses or hearing aids than white residents. Minority women wait twice as long as white women for follow-up tests after an abnormal mammogram.
Hell, one of "them" was elected as President even though he may have been born in Kenya and might be a secret Muslim terrorist. Frankly, I don't know what more white people can do to make Black people happy. We already let them play on all our professional sports teams. We let Tiger Woods win all those golf tournaments. We let our kids dance to rap music. We televised Michael Jackson's funeral. We gave Oprah a billion dollar media empire. What more do they want from us, anyway?
Judicial Watch is a bunch of damn fools, plain and simple.
Three-judge panel hears case challenging Clinton's Eligibility to Serve As Secretary of State
A three-judge panel is hearing a case Wednesday morning that challenges Hillary Clinton's "constitutional eligibility" to serve as the government's Secretary of State. The hearing comes as a result of a lawsuit filed by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch on behalf of Foreign Service Officer and State Department employee David Rodearmel.
Judicial Watch stipulates that Secretary of State Clinton is ineligible to serve her current public role under Article I, section 6 of the United States constitution:
No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.
In a press release, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton explains: "The 'emoluments' or salary of the U.S. Secretary of State increased at least three times during Mrs. Clinton's most recent U.S. Senate term. That term, which began on January 4, 2007, does not expire until January 2013, regardless of Mrs. Clinton's resignation. " Judicial Watch filed numerous unsuccessful lawsuits against the Clintons during the Clinton administration.
Convicted 'beltway sniper' given Nov. 10 execution date RICHMOND - A circuit court judge has set a Nov. 10 execution date for John Allen Muhammad, mastermind of the 2002 "beltway sniper" attacks in the Washington, D.C., area.
The attorney general's office had requested a Nov. 9 execution date, but Muhammad's attorney, Jonathan Sheldon said Prince William County Circuit Judge Mary Grace O'Brien delayed it one day, a Tuesday, so that government offices would be open the day before in case of last-minute court action.
Muhammad was sentenced to death for the slaying of Dean Meyers, one of 10 people shot to death during a 2002 rampage that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area. He was found guilty by a jury in Virginia Beach.
Sheldon said Muhammad will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and ask the governor for clemency.
The lawyer for an inmate whose execution was halted after an unprecedented two hours said trying to put him to death again in a week could be a disaster. ... After the team spent nearly an hour trying to find a workable vein, Broom tried to help them bring him a quicker death.
Remember there are 242 post-conviction releases from death row, confirming that "conviction" does not equal "guilt".
PETA demands higher standards and methods to put down animals than is used for the disproportionate minority death row inmate population.
Unfortunately, Malvo can't be executed, if I remember correctly.

Barack Obama Refuses to be their Nigger" and so do I.
Flip And Pop My Collar Like The Fonz 16 Sep 2009 01:00 pm
Andrew on Malkin and Limbaugh's dishonest white fear-mongering:
These people are going off the deep end entirely: open panic at a black president is morphing into the conscious fanning of racial polarization, via Gates or ACORN or Van Jones or a schoolbus in Saint Louis. What we're seeing is the Jeremiah Wright moment repeated and repeated. The far right is seizing any racial story to fan white fears of black power in order to destroy Obama. And the far right now controls the entire right.
Do they understand how irresponsible this is? How recklessly dangerous to a society's cohesion and calm? Or is that what they need and thrive on?
Yes. Yes. And yes.
I got a note from a good friend yesterday expressing shock, and anger, about Drudge and Malkin's usage of that alleged racial beat-down on a school-bus. On some level, I wonder if something's wrong with me. I'm neither shocked, nor angry. This is exactly how I expected these fools to respond to a black president.
If anything, I'm a little giddy. For black people, the clear benefit of Obama is that he is quietly exposing an ancient hatred that has simmered in this country for decades. Rightly or wrongly, a lot of us grew tired of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, mostly because they presented easy foils for Limbaugh-land. Moreover, again rightly or wrongly, they were used to define all of us.
It's intensely grating to live say, in Atlanta, and have some dude in Harlem crowned as your unelected leader. It's even more grating if said dude's agenda seems, in large measure, come down to standing in front of cameras and tweaking his opponents. It's no mistake that O'Reilly and Sharpton would break bread together at Sylvia's--they feed each other.
But Barack Obama, bourgeois in every way that bourgeois is right and just, will not dance. He tells kids to study--and they seethe. He accepts an apology for an immature act of rudeness--and they go hysterical. He takes his wife out for a date--and their veins bulge. His humanity, his ordinary blackness, is killing them. Dig the audio of his response to Kanye West--the way he says, "He's a jackass." He sounds like one of my brothers. And that's the point, because that's what he is. Barack Obama refuses to be their nigger. And it's driving them crazy.
Really, I've seen more photoshopped and not-photoshopped pictures of this event than are really necessary.
I wasn't there, I don't know how many people were. As I said day of, I make no claims either way. Whatever you want/need the attendance to be, it can be.
I'm not D, but it looks like about 3 million to me, look at all of those people wearing green in the middle! They're packed in there like sardines.

I was thinking and maybe someone else has already thought of it.Why not check the ridership of the metro against last years figures?Granted you also have to take into account the families that attended the Black family reunion.
In your advocacy for Mr. McConnell, have you attended any of the assorted events where angry [people who happen to be White] gather and protest the 8 months' old Obama presidency? And when they break out their "witch doctor" and "monkey" and various other signs that benignly entail racial connotations, do you say anything? Do anything?
But most importantly, notwithstanding how "you* feel about that kind of subtle racial mockery, how do you think the other 95% of Black Americans feel?
And yeah, I have...not the signs (just campaign-related stuff at events). I can always tell when they're about to start up, because they usually begin their rants with "and let me tell you something...."
It's not just white people, it's blacks, Hispanics (Tito the Builder, of Sarah Palin fame, is here in VA)...it's everyone who's upset and sees me as their sounding board.
I tune it out; their rants have nothing to do with what I'm doing here. I pick them back up when they're done. Doesn't just happen to me; it's happened to just about all the staffers.
That said, I understand how everyone here's come to the conclusions they have about the GOP, the tea party movement, etc. I get that.

Apparently, Glenn Beck announced on his radio show that he'll be interviewing the President on Monday.
Miranda
What was the punchline?
Sepia
Where did you get this info from?
Plantsmantx
Someone who listens to his show told me that he announced it. I Googled, and came up with enough hits (albeit from right-wing sites) to halfway convince me that he did say that, or something which cound be construed that way. I said "apparently" to allow for the possibility that he's pulling some kind of BS stunt.
I mean, I'm all for talking to our enemies, but I thought Obama said he was going to stop wasting his time with people who just want to play games. I will have a real problem with Obama giving any credibility to beck by giving him an interview.
