If we didn't have insurance, most of our bills would be double and triple i.e. "list price". Medicare pays even less, and also denies more and charges back more according to my doctor. Anyone should be able to pay the same price that the ins. co's. or Medicare pays and expect the same treatment. HR 3200 and the Baucus bill so far will mandate less coverage at about the same price......with substantial penalties for not participating. Think of the same power the IRS has over everyone now.
