Sen. Charles Schumer asked the Justice Department’s antitrust division on Monday to investigate the recent sale of Diebold’s voting machines division to a competitor, saying the deal raises anti-competitiveness concerns and has “adverse implications on how our country votes.”
The letter comes just days after another voting machine company filed an anti-trust lawsuit in federal court in Delaware against Diebold and Election Systems & Software.
Earlier this month, Diebold announced the sale of its voting machine division, Premier Election Solutions, to top competitor ES&S for about $5 million.
The sale gives ES&S, already the largest voting machine maker in the country, a near monopoly on the voting machine industry. According to the company’s website, its systems, used in 43 states, counted “approximately 50 percent of the votes in the last four major U.S. elections.”
Hart InterCivic, a voting machine firm based in Texas, filed an antitrust suit (.pdf) on Friday, seeking a temporary and permanent injunction against the sale. According to the suit, the sale “poses a significant and imminent threat of irreparable antitrust injury to plaintiffs.”
I am tired of public opinion about Joe Wilson-being dictated by the one whom has raised more money-- I am glad his opponent got contributions--but both have surpassed 1.5 million dollars in the last days--so basically we has a nation will influence S.Carolina-and probably make them sick of their campaign. Without going into how much these people are going to spend-when giving speeches is free--knocking on doors almost free (leaflets)--All about airtime--I guess-by the time its over you usually hate both for the tactical misleading ads that will play on a constant loop- Think of what a million could buy in yard signs--but its the twisted words of the media--FOX is sure to help demonize the Democrat running--but sadly the otherside will I am sure get a leg up from Rachel Maddow et al. What Joe Wilson did was wrong--whether things have been said-in the past--whether Mr. Wilson apologized with no remorse- it is what is taking us away from democracy- The Lunatic fringe arguing about irrational thoughts--these people aren't trying to end a war--stop urban decay--save jobs-feed the hungry--we are arguing with the world is flat people--maybe-my new name for them should be 'flatliners'-straight unbendable-one way-of thinking--- I feel bad-because there is no debating them (I like to debate)but these people couldn't find an issue-not in someway made up-or spew facts that aren't real--Here is a fact-an unavoidable truth...Jan.-July '09 more U.S. soldiers have killed themselves then have been killed by the enemy-- So lets ask our congressmen and women-if the inciting nature of the the fringe elements could be brought under control--the representatives act more professional (try yelling, 'you lie' @ name the company CEO) and lets get on with it--without the delay of listening to the nightly crazy speak.

Their opinions = fact, Our facts = opinion by ihumanable Share this on Twitter - Their opinions = fact, Our facts = opinion Tue Sep 15, 2009 at 07:27:00 AM PDT I've been trying to formulate in my head what makes me so enraged at the mainstream media. I used to get annoyed when I heard the blatant falsehoods parroted as though they had some truth, some value. Now I can barely bring myself to watch, especially in the morning when there is literally no good option. Should I watch Joe Scarborough and his band of merry-yes-men, or the Sugar Coated Substance Free Robin Meade's wardrobe hour, or Fox and Frie.... here comes the rage stroke.
I wanted to move past rage, for once, and try to figure out why these shows angered me so. Have I become the progressive version of a Fox Viewer, unable to cope with anything that doesn't conform to my world-view. That thought shook me, could I have become everything I despise. I thought hard about that and thought about what perturbed me about the mainstream media and I realized what it is, follow below the fold for my revelation.
ihumanable's diary :: :: As the title may have tipped you off with the title, I came to realize a simple truth about the 4th estate in America.
Conservative opinion is treated with the weight of fact. Progressive fact is treated with the suspicious eye of opinion.
This is what makes me enraged, this is what sends my blood pressure through the roof, this is what makes me want to chuck my tv off the roof. But let's not just take my word for it, I'm hardly a neutral source, let's look at some examples.
Here is Dr. Brzezinski (liberal) against Joe Scarborough (conservative)
Now of course Joe Scarborough is going to agree with himself and give himself the weight of the world's greatest thinker on his own show. But let's look at the facts.
Dr. Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzezinski is considered the democratic Henry Kissinger, he has a Bachelors and Masters from McGill University and a Doctorate from Harvard and served as National Security Adviser to former President Carter. I'm not defending all of his theories and actions, I'm just saying that the man knows what he's talking about when it comes to foreign policy.
Joe Scarborough is a former Republican Congressman who abandoned his office after 6 years with a 95% rating from the American Conservative Union, he has a JD from University Florida College of Law, his most distinguished law case was helping to defend a man (Michael F. Griffin) who murdered an abortion doctor (David Gunn). He is now a conservative blow-hard on tv and radio. He is also far from a foreign policy expert, having sponsored a bill to force the U.S. to withdraw from the United Nations
Yet he sits there with his "stunningly superficial" knowledge and tries to play in the big leagues with Dr. Brzezinski, he compares op-eds and widely held beliefs as though they have equal bearing as to the events that actually occurred, and the whole time Dr. Brzezinski's own daughter sycophantically sits there in silence, occasionally giggling like a damn fool.
Dr. Brzezinski - If you are going to judge your knowledge by the collective standard of 300,000,000 people then don't be surprised that you're embarrassed.
Morning Joe - I'm not embarrassed, I read the New York Time and the Washington Post and the foreign affairs, you know what I'm going to do, I'm going to throw those away and any time I have a question I'm going to call you up.
Dr. Brzezinski - Let me spell it to you T-A-B-A Taba Negotiations, it will be helpful
Morning Joe - I'll do that and I'll throw out papers and foreign affairs and everything else I read.
I don't know what the hell it means to read a "foreign affairs" but when talking foreign policy with a foreign policy expert maybe his first-hand knowledge of something is slightly better than the "foreign affairs" that you are reading. If you actually look up the Taba Summit you will see that Dr. Brzezinski's account of the facts were correct.
Morning Joe continued in his braindead defense of his position
Morning Joe - You and I both know, Bill Clinton gave Arafat and the Palestinians everything they could want.
Dr. Brzezinski - You know, you have such a stunningly superficial knowledge of what went on it is almost embarrassing to listen to you. If you were to look more closely at what happened at the Clinton-Camp David discussion you would know that what you just said is absolutely wrong.
Dr. Brzezinski has the facts on his side on this one, but anyone watching would be led to believe that there is some dispute over what really happened, there is not.

There was a recent recced diary Too Controversial to be shown in the US? OMG WTF? that centered around this fact (click through and read that diary too, its quite good)
British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.
Evolution is a fact, plain and simple. It happens, its happening right now, that's why you need new flu shots every year, this is not even controversial. There are no legitimate biologists who will tell you evolution isn't true. Men can disagree about the reason we are here or what sky god to believe in and all that, but the simple fact remains, that even if you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster (peace be upon his noodly appendage) you are still faced with the incontrovertible proof that environmental pressures cause natural selection and that process over time causes evolution. We have fossils, and petri dishes, and evidence coming out of our ears supporting evolution.
Yet this fact is treated like an opinion. Science can never prove anything, quips the christian right, and they are correct, but that doesn't keep gravity from holding you to the ground. Science can't prove anything, but belief can not erase the fact that we have a fossil record clearly showing lower creature evolving into higher ones. You can believe, if you choose, that this process was guided by some deity, but you can not throw out the evidence because you don't like it.
This really isn't liberal fact or conservative fact, although the conservative christians are the main opponent to the fact which is why I'm putting it over on the liberal side of the equation. And so it is treated not with the weight of one of the most beautiful and revolutionary scientific theories every crafted that has been tested through the rigors of the scientific method for more than a century and never found wanting, no its some pie in the sky theory dreamed up by moon headed jesus-haters. And in some states is on equal footing with the belief that a magic sky man poofed everything into existence and then left a massive fossil record to test the faithful.
-------------------------------------------
They do it again and again in the mainstream media, facts supported by evidence and studies and research are brushed aside. Whistleblowers saying that telecoms are spying on Americans are considered crack-pots, people standing up for civil liberties are rabble rousers, claiming that the basis for War in Iraq was a lie is unpatriotic. The right though can claim that Obama is a Kenyan, perfectly fine, dress him as Hitler, what galant Americans they are, and have TRANSPARENTLY ASTROTURF events, that the media will report as organic surges of REAL AMERICANS that don't want healthcare, they would rather die because of some pre-existing condition because Thomas Jefferson wanted to water a tree or something.
Paul Krugman, you may know him as Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, or possibly as Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, or maybe as 2008 Noble Laureate in Economics Paul Krugman, says that inflation is not a concern right now.
Michelle Malkin (famed conservative commentator with a Bachelor's in English) is concerned with inflation
Most on the right are concerned about inflation Rush Limbaugh (college dropout), Sean Hannity (another college dropout), and Glenn Beck (high school graduate) are all very concerned with inflation.
These might seem like ad hominem attacks, and its not that these people aren't deserving of a little ad hominem attack, but that's not the point. The point is that these people are dangerously unqualified to attempt to offer up their economic advice.
Yet you will hear their concerns 100 times a day, spewed forth from the great maw of the mainstream media as though its truth, proven because people say it enough.
----------------------------------------
I could go on and on, but this has gotten long enough. The facts that we have don't mean anything, FDR's New Deal ended the great depression, most economists agree, but it doesn't matter because the matter can be muddied and the right will claim that the war fixed it (because the government dollars knew that they were fighting nazi's if they had been providing healthcare they wouldn't have worked right). The right will continue to loudly proclaim things, and the media will regurgitate it like it is fact, and maybe after a week or two of doing that they will actually do their job and find out they've been helping to spread a lie and spend a minute or two apologizing or explaining, and then on to the next lie.
The facts can not win this one, sorry. Our facts are seen as opinion, evolution is an opinion, not torturing people is an opinion, civil liberties are an opinion, meaningful reform is an opinion.
Death panels are fact, creeping socialism is fact, widespread hatred of change is fact (odd after someone just got elected on that very message).
The country we live is now divorced from reality, its found a sexier lady to shack up with, perception. The right has poisoned the 4th estate, but no worries, they keep telling us that the media has a liberal bias, that must be true, because their opinions are fact. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/9/15/85745/1268

Thank you for the piece on evolution. You are dead right on how the media handles facts vs opinion

10 Lessons for Tea Baggers Back in April, the Daily Show's Jon Stewart offered some sound advice for frothing at the mouth Tea Baggers, "I think you might be confusing tyranny with losing." Now five months after their Tax Day outburst, thousands of vein-popping Obama opponents descended Saturday on Washington for Tea Party II. But while Glenn Beck's furious followers alternately slandered the President as a "fascist," a "communist" and worse, they remained unencumbered by either the thought process - or the truth.
Here, then, are 10 Lessons for Tea Baggers:

I'm glad he's going on Letterman, that should be a good interview.

Caster Semenya is reportedly now on suicide watch. From an opinion piece on NewsOne.com, "Caster Semenya and the Death of Common Decency":
"As always with our 24-hour news cycle, though, the beat goes on: We’re off Semenya this week because we’re busy lamenting the loss of “civility” in American society, as demonstrated by the latest pair of buffoons: Kanye West and Joe Wilson. There’s no doubt that there’s something very, very wrong with the way people treat each other these days, but these latest outbursts are just the tip of the iceberg. Everything about the Caster Semenya story has been deeply indecent and uncivil, from the way she has been treated and lied to by the people in her life to the way the media and its consumers have picked over her."
"Since this began, she has dropped out of a race, required psychological counseling, and is now reportedly so distraught that loved ones fear for her life. All of this because someone lacked the common decency to respect her privacy, and because we all lacked the decency to stop staring."
they needed to leave her the fuck alone. lord, please watch over this young woman.
mjohnso27
That just breaks my heart. I know that we are on top of it domestically, but women of color need to do a better job with protesting the harsh treatment of black women and girls by the international press. If this young woman ends up taking her own life, members of the press and the sports community will have blood on their hands.

Yes its rather unfortunate, reporter probably won't get an interview from the WH in a long time. In the end there is no downside for Obama. He comes across as real (he said what most people are thinking) and in touch with current events, even though its trivial. He can get away with knowing about such an issue because he has young daughters who probably listen to Taylor Swift (as per the premise of the original question).

State and local tourism officials are being flooded by emails and calls from people across the country, saying they won't vacation in South Carolina because they're upset by GOP Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst at President Barack Obama.
The officials said that a number of the out-of-state e-mailers have said they've taken beach trips for years in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and other South Carolina resort areas, but don't plan to return.
Something tells me that if Joe Wilson decided to run for SC Governor, he'd probably win. Those saltines are unashamed. They are proud of their native son.
MORROW, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - The FBI said Monday that they were investigating a potential hate crime at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Morrow. Morrow police said a man yelled racial slurs as he punched and kicked a woman who was going into the restaurant last week.
Tasha Hill, who is a U.S. Army Reservist, said she was walking the Cracker Barrel restaurant with her 7-year-old daughter when a man punched her, kicked her and yelled racial slurs.
"I just remember curling up in a ball to protect myself," said Hill.
Hill, a 35-year-old Army Reservist, said she was with her 7-year-old daughter when she was beaten.
"He punched me several times in the head and I can't remember if that's where he was kicking me," said Hill.
Morrow police charged 47-year-old Troy West with assault, disorderly conduct and cruelty to children.
"He was coming out of the location, almost hit the girl with the door and real politely the lady says, by all witness counts, 'you almost hit my daughter, will you please excuse yourself.' [West] punched [Hill], put her to the ground and kicked her," said Commander Jimmy Callaway of the Morrow Police Department.
Police said the whole incident was caught on videotape which they say has now been turned over to the FBI. The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential hate crime because of repeated racial slurs.
"I let him know I was a U.S. service member. I didn't want any trouble, but he continued to call me names and punched me in the face," said Hill.
Hill's 7-year-old daughter watched the incident.
"She kept apologizing afterward because she wanted to go to the specific restaurant. I said, 'it's not your fault that man had the devil in him,' that's what I told her," said Hill.
Hill said she had knots all over her head and she has been in and out of the VA hospital because of a numb arm, swelling and headaches.
West declined to comment on the case.

I want to know why no one stepped in? Grab a knife, a chair, anything and pummel this nut!
That poor girl, Miranda. I will BET you anything she thought that man was going to kill her momma, little sweet-faced thing.
People are confusing 'free speech' with rudeness and it's getting out of hand. No - you CAN'T say any fucking thing you want. There are limits and there are 'rules.' and like I'm the biggest rule follower, but my god.
Yeah, it is also disappointing and disgusting no one came to her aid. At our Cracker Barrel there are chairs outside. Christ, someone could've grabbed SOMETHING! Makes me sick.

That little girl will never get that image out of her head. I just dont understand why some workers didn't try to stop him or something. He was kicking this woman while she was DOWN. Freaking coward!

Cue the usual Republicans talking heads to come out demanding that the person who is accused of the assault be drawn and quartered for beating up someone in the military. Oh the victim is black you say...[crickets]? Nothing at all to see here...I'm sure his comments were taken out of context. Also, that gal is probably some sort of a black panther or something...uh, gotta go prep for my next tea party meeting.

Yes, where are the "support our troops" people? Poor woman and poor child..she got a lesson that day in tolerance. The kind that allows a woman to be beat in front of her child for nothing.
Watching Whitney on Oprah, she doesn't sound BAD, but she doesn't sound the way she used to either. But good for her for picking herself up (with help from her Mom) and dusting herself off.
In my opinion she doesn't sound honest about the drugs, the abuse, and her role in the decline in her career and life. She doesn't seem healed. She sounds like someone who is faking it.
She's drinking????? WTF. She doesn't identify as an addict. Addicts realize their genetics make them vulnerable. I was right. She has not humbled herself.
For some reason, I don't even care about her singing anymore.

Alcohol is the trade off for the coke/crack.... Somehow, Whitney is fooling hersself into believing a lil drink here and there is harmless; at least it's not cocaine!

This is a story a friend of mine shared with me yesterday. You might have heard it before, but I urge you to participate since I think it will be a lot of fun.
After a shipwreck, just a handful people survive. Clinging to dear life, they sail away on 2 boats. One boat has a lady, the captain and an old man. The other boat has the lady’s fiance’ and a few other people.
Once the boat makes it to the island, the lady realizes that her fiance’s boat has not reached the same island. Perhaps they sailed off to the neighboring island? She is sad but determined to get her lover back. So she approaches the captain and requests him to fix their boat so that they can sail to the other island and find her lover. “Please, please”, she begs him.
Just having survived the shipwreck, the Captain has no desire to throw himself at the face of death all over again. But after much pleading he says, “Okay, I will do it. But you will have to sleep with me first”.
The lady is torn. She does not know what to do. She goes over to the other survivor - the old man and asks him what he thinks she should do. “Follow your heart, young lady. Just follow your heart”, he says.
The lady goes back and agrees to fulfill the Captain’s wish. The Captain then fixes the boat and they all sail away to the next island. The lady is estatic to find her lover there, alive and safe! They hug and kiss. Tears flow. She then tells her lover the whole story. The story really disturbs the lover. He is in shock. He is very upset. “Oh, how could you do this to me? I waited all alone for you, for so long…how could you tarnish what we have?”, he says, “I want nothing to do with you anymore!”.
The lady is in tears. The Captain feels terrible for the lady. He puts his arms around her and says, ” I am always here for you, if you ever need me.”
Okay, story done.
This is what you do now:
1. Now that you heard the story, who, amongst all the people in the story do you think has the most integrity? Who do you think has the least integrity?
2. And why?
Share what you think in the comments. DO NOT read the comments before you have answered the questions above in your head!
3. Next, read the comments and see if you are influenced in any way. Does your decision change?
whiterosebuddy
To me integrity is doing the right thing for the right reason.
I believe the woman has the most integrity as she risked her life to find her fiancee and demonstrated the depth of true love by going to the lengths needed to get to him. Further, she was true to herself and him by disclosing all to him.
It is a toss up for me about the least, between the Captain, who used her need for personal gratification, but the fiancee I guess was even worse, by deciding that sex was the basis of true love. He betrayed true love by not understanding her character and willingness to save him, instead he based love on the shallowness of all things...sex. What a jerk.
1.) The woman has the most, her lover has the least.
2.) There was a shipwreck, and she was clinging to life, and the person she was most concerned with was her lover. Her heart told her to do whatever she needed to do to get to the other island. Then when she got there, she told him the truth instead of lying (by omission or otherwise). Her motives were pure.
The lover has the least integrity because he doesn't forgive her for that one discretion, she could have left him by himself on that island and only worried about herself. She did what she needed to do to get to him, and he responds in such a way as if he's never been stuck between a rock and a hard place and had the nerve to judge her.
I didn't pick the captain as the one with the least integrity because you really can't get something for nothing. Was he a dog for taking advantage of her yes, but he was an honest dog, and after the fact he stuck by her.

"Tea Party" Leader Melts Down On CNN: Obama Is An "Indonesian Muslim Turned Welfare Thug" (VIDEO)
Tea Party" leader Mark Williams appeared on a CNN panel on "Anderson Cooper 360" last night and promptly set to work discrediting himself and his movement. Williams denounced those carrying blatantly racist signs against President Obama during the tea parties as "no more part of the mainstream of America than the hippies who wear nipple clips and feather boas in San Francisco streets during so-called peace demonstrations."
Cooper had done his homework, however, and caught Williams blatantly misrepresenting himself: "What you're saying makes sense to me here when I'm hearing what you say but then I read on your blog, you say, you call the President an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief."
Williams shrugs and responds, "Yeah, that's the way he's behaving." An incredulous Cooper asks Williams if he really believes Obama is an Indonesian Muslim and a welfare thug. The tea party leader digs the hole a little deeper: "He's certainly acting like it. Until he embraces the whole country what else can I conclude."

I have been knocking around an idea about mainstream Black civil rights organizations' positions on domestic violence. I searched the national NAACP site for the phrase "domestic violence" and pretty much the only thing that came up was the story about the man shot dead in a church by police who was wanted for alleged domestic violence. I hope this is not indicative of (or a metaphor for) what I am likely to find about these organizations' stance on and work in this area.
If anyone knows of any links/info on mainstream, non-domestic violence-specific Black groups who do strong work in this area, please drop a comment or email me from my blog.
Thanks!

I don't know how many people read the Hinterland Gazette. It is run by a AA woman whom describes herself as conservative(to me she just exhibits a huge amount of common sense). She posted a video of Anderson Cooper interviewing Mark Williams, David Gergen and Carville. Mark Williams decries the teabaggers holding up certain signs about president Obama but then says, .. Just take a look.
The best part of this is the look on Gergen's face. He absolutely knows the Republican party is self immolating w/ people like this in the party. He can't bring himself to say they are not representative of the Republican party yet he knows they'll kill him too.
RobM -- Thanks for the shout-out to The Hinterland Gazette and your compliments. Mark Williams is a bare-faced hypocrite and I am glad Anderson Cooper called him out!
Keep visiting the Hinterland Gazette!

Well, I don't know that he's not saying that they're not representative of the Republican as much as he's playing the same old game of "both sides are equally at fault".

This is your time to master the course material. If you weren't smart enough to do this, you wouldn't be there. Think about that. This is your season of learning. Take advantage of it and stay focused on doing your very best!
Question -Are you arriving to each class prepared with questions to ask the professor for clarification on the material being covered that day? Do you understand the concepts well enough to explain them to someone else?
There are 24 hours in each day. Outside of sitting in class, how many hours have you committed to your studies?
The mama in me says turn off JJP and hit those books young lady! (forgive me if I'm all in your business. Its done with love. I know a bit about learning. I managed to get 3 degrees w honors GPAs as a single parent working at least part-time- mostly full time. @ 1point I was working 2 jobs.)
lamh32
Naw, it's my fault. The first test just came up so fast. The semester just began a little over 2 weeks ago. The professor herself said today, she doesn't know why she scheduled a test so early in the semester.
Also, I had ample time to study, even with blogging at jjp (which I mostly do while I'm at work).
I realize now that it just takes me up til at least the "2nd" exam before I've become adjusted to my new studying habits. This time, I just blanked out during the test.
I stumbled, but I'm gonna be up and running now. Sad to say, but it takes stuff like this to get my juices going. Now I know what kind of exam the teacher gives, and what type of questions she likes to give, so I'm gonna be ready for the next one and every one after that....TRUST!

You missed understood me, the "C" is on the exam. This just means I'm gonna have to put the peddle to the metal, and ace the next set of exams coming up.
My bad, that's the "never-surrender" attitude that is expected. ...you never know, there may be a curve.

while I was out today, I was listening to local talk radio. some questions 1. is abortion by Black women a form of genocide 2. what is the problem, the abortion or the lack of use of contraception. 3. why do we have a higher proportion of abortion in the Black community
Lisa M
1. It's just another conspiracy being pushed by the religious right and some group called of Black people called Maafa 21.
3. Here's something I found online.
15% of black women were not using contraception and were at risk for unintended pregnancy, compared to 12% of Hispanic women and 9% of white women. In a recent article for RH Reality Check, Dr. Melissa Gilliam, analyzing the higher abortion rate among African-American women, wrote, "Behind virtually every abortion is an unintended pregnancy. African American women have higher abortion rates than their white peers because they have much higher rates of unintended pregnancy--three times higher than those of white women."
Interesting numbers, the whole abortion thing is out and an issue for one reason, they don't want whites to become the minority.
Does anyone think that anti-abortion kooks care of a black or Hispanic woman gets the procedure?? If, you do, I have a snow covered mountain in the middle of the Sahara, and, I'll sell you, and, cheap!

3. why do we have a higher proportion of abortion in the Black community
Really? I always thought the abortion rate was higher in the white community.
1. No 2. The lack of use of contraception 3. Because people keep having sex, knowing the consequences and knowing they aren't prepared to have a kid. I feel like if you're grown enough to have sex, then you need to be grown enough to raise a kid if you get pregnant. But I'd much rather have someone get an abortion than bring a child into this world they can't/won't take care of or will leave in a dumpster (one person left a baby in a port-a-potty), or placed into a system where there are too many parent-less children now.

DOES anyone watch Lincoln Heights or Greek?
vulcan_girl
I love Greek and broke down and bought the DVDs. I started watching Lincoln Heights when it was first on, then school got in the way.
I do, I just started watching Greek last week, but I like it, and I missed most of last season's Lincoln Heights because I had class, but I saw it this week. Where'd the older brother come from?
i watched all of the first season, and fell out the second season, and watched the premiere this week. i loved them moving back to Lincoln Heights
i love greek and have watched all of it.

G.W.Bush: "McCain's a five spiril crash"..."Palin Gov. of Guam"
Bush reportedly called McCain 'a five-spiral crash,' said Palin 'not remotely prepared'
According to a new book -- excerpts of which are to be published in the next issue of GQ Magazine and detailed Tuesday -- former President George W. Bush was incredulous upon learning that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was having trouble drawing a crowd and called his campaign a "five-spiral crash." He also asserted that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was "not even remotely prepared."
The excerpts are from former Bush speechwriter Matt Latimer's soon-to-be-published book Speech-Less: Tales of a White House Survivor.
Bush seemed to feel considerable unease with the choice of McCain as well. I think he liked Romney best. (The rumor was that so did Karl Rove.) My guess was the president hadnt so easily forgotten the endless slights hed suffered, but there was little he could do. To him, McCains defeat would be a repudiation of the Bush administration, so McCain had to win... I was once in the Oval Office when the president was told a campaign event in Phoenix he was to attend with McCain suddenly had to be closed to the press...
If he doesnt want me to go, fine, the president said. Ive got better things to do.
Eventually, someone informed the president that the reason the event was closed was that McCain was having trouble getting a crowd. He cant get 500 people to show up for an event in his hometown? he asked. No one said anything, and we went on to another topic. But the president couldnt let the matter drop. He couldnt get 500 people? I could get that many people to turn out in Crawford. He shook his head. This is a five-spiral crash, boys.
Bush also is quoted as saying Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was "being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for" after McCain announced her as his vice presidential running mate. Im trying to remember if Ive met her before. Im sure I must have. His eyes twinkled, then he asked, What is she, the governor of Guam?
Everyone in the room seemed to look at him in horror, their mouths agape.

what does it say when SHRUB has the nerve to say you're not prepared...lol
On Barack Obama: “He came in one day to rehearse a speech, fuming. ‘This is a dangerous world,’ he said for no apparent reason, ‘and this cat [Obama] isn’t remotely qualified to handle it. This guy has no clue, I promise you.’”
the parents of these kids need to have them taken away. I couldn't take much more than a minute of this (and honestly, I don't know how I watched that much): http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/video/video....
whiterosebuddy
It is horrific. I watched at it was just revolting when the adult women joined in, with the little boys. I don't think I have seen anything this disgusting in over 10 years.
ugh@ this comment from someone else on FB about that video:
If I had kids, I'd KNUCKLE PUNCH my little GIRL in right in the TEMPLE, and KICK her down a flight of STAIRS (and secretly high five my son, lol.) Thoughts??
WTF? So the girl gets punished and the boy gets rewarded? just ugh. I'm tempted to delete that person from my friend list for that one.
RobM
Deleted from your friend list??? You mean your life list!! Anybody threatening their kid like that is a danger to you and your loved ones period.
