I call over to Rep. Scott's office every day to see when they're scheduling a townhall. Nothing except a small business symposium in Richmond and Hampton Roads.
What are they scared of? The opposition plays nice....

Um, let's see...
Life sized posters with nooses hanging aroung them, and maybe getting physically accosted., intimidation and a whole slew of ignorant ass folks who do not already know that Medicare and Medicaid is government-run.
You already know you stood on stage with some major Obama haters back in April at those teabag fests...yea, I ain't forgot about the redneck dude who was on the stage with you...what was the website again? The premise of these town hall uprisings is the same as the tea bag fests....and we all know what is TRULY at the root......just like Bush's expanison of government and ballooning deficits, no one said a damn thing when Medicare was expanded....
and it always puzzles me that NO good ol Republican, patriotic Americans were pissed and screaming when troops came back to Wlater Reed in mold-filled and disgusting moves....wouldn't TRUE patriotism have enraged the Republican masses and had them shouted to the top of their lungs over the treatment of American troops?
I tell ya what....if it happens in my neck of the woods, and with the chip I got on my shoulders, I WISH some crazies would roll up...I'll leave it at that.
BTW, most of these town hall mob loonies give me flashbacks to the KKK rallies, er, I mean McCain/Palin rallies last fall. The visuals, sadly, are always the same.
Who, the ResistNet guys/girls? I run across some of them occasionally, with their "I resist!" shirts. I wouldn't call them "major Obama haters"; their message is too diluted for me to keep up with them.
And actually, when the Walter Reed story broke, Free Republic and a lot of other pro-military groups in DC were all over the Armed Services committees about it. That may have been the only issue they partly agreed with some of the antiwar groups on.
I ain't bailing you out, so you better behave...LOL.
Seriously, though...there's no good reason for any representative to make himself available, in some way, to his constituents. If your feelings get hurt because someone disagrees with you, you're in the wrong line of work.
Monie
They actually walk around with " I resist" shirts....let me guess...do they have a Confederate flag emblazoned under those words/...wow, I gotta venture to the Southside more often to see this foolishness up close.
....but you know some of these town hall folks are doing hard tea party redux all over.....the hardened, stone faces that we see let's you know they are virtually about to bust an artery....and it just hurts the "cause" when you have uninformed town hall goers railing about keep your hands off Medicare.....um, wth do they think Medicare is?
The rep on this side's a Blue Dog, so he might catch some hell...but I don't think he'll catch that much right now. He's been, for the most part, left alone (though there's a gang of people lining up to challenge him in '10).

Yes. Donna Edwards is having a town hall meeting today in Oxon Hill, MD from 6 - 7 pm @ Oxon Hill Library.
Who? Oh you mean the friends of William Jefferson...and William jefferson clinton? Follow the penny trail of crumbs from the usual lobbyists right up to the glue that's shut their mouths. Pennies on the dollar.
Actually Maxine Waters is trying but aside from the usual Republican wall of opposition we have the "Blue Dog" Democrats-In-Name-Only actively trying to kill this plan. http://actsoffaithinloveandlife.blogspot.com/20...

Oh NOEZ.... Are you saying the CBC are House Knee-Grows?!!!!!
Not necessarily. I'm saying we as voters have to hold them all accountable, have clear goals and consequences prepared if we think our needs are not being met. We all know how infamously (the collective of) black voters are counted on to show up for the Democrats in a big election (regardless of whether these politicians ever do anything) and sit everything else out. It's way past the time for that to change. If you look at trends amongst Asians and Latinos a significant portion will leave a party if their needs aren't being met. Of course the Republicans are horrid but who's to say enough of us couldn't gather to stage a "hostile" takeover of enough districts that would scare some of these political pundits into action? It has to be a strategic move. I'd love to hear and read about a core upstart group doing something to effect REAL change.
