I would think the top 1% gets considerably more than a quarter of the benefits from government. Add that to the fact that most of their income is unearned (hey, it's the government's term, not mine) and therefore taxed at a much lower rate than that of earned income, and it looks to me like the affluent are subsidized.

At minimum, tax unearned income at the same rate as earned income.

You are welcome to delude yourself that the best employees will go where the best benefits are so the employer must offer them. The employers have plenty of good opportunity to recruit without the benefits because many employers dropped the good, the bad and the ugly employees this time around. If they want good they are out there and they do not have to pay the either because people want to work.

People are delusional if they think the a government option will take away from them. They have lost every year for the last ten through cutbacks in plan benefits or higher cost out of there pocket. And they are stupid because they do not read their policies to find out there is a dollar limit a policy will pay in aggregate, i.e.per family or individual.

It was def an informercial for her book, but conservative pundits–if you wanna call 'em that–have mastered the ability to over talk someone. Michael Eric Dyson is the only person I've seen be able to shut a fellow journalist down with irrefutable facts at that.
