Harry Jackson is an artifact left over from the Patron-Client arrangements so prevalent in 20th century American politics. Most African Americans lived in ghettoized communities the slavery era up through the late 1960's. After black folks got the right to vote the political contact with the white downtown power structure was always channeled through some black big shot person in the black community in the political role of client. In the black community, this person could be a wealthy businessman or a Undertaker, or a Minister of a large church. This person would also be selected by the white power structure as the political contact in the black community, Gifts, graft kickbacks, liquor licenses and other benefits would given to the black client in exchange for delivering a black vote favorable to the white patron's political power structure. Members of the black community who needed personal assistance from City hall would have to process their request through the black big shot client, who would then get it approved and acted upon by his white patron. That's the way things worked up until the late 1970's.
Harry is trying his best to implement this obsolete political arrangement, wherein he assumes the role of a national client for all AA's in the nation. In Harry's scenario the Republican party is assumed to be the patron controlling all of the white political power. Poor Harry fails to realize that this is the 21st century and people are buying electric cars and he is still selling Studebakers. The political gulf between the Republican party and the rest of black America is so large that they are willing to keep throwing money at this clown hoping that something might take root. Since the Republican's world now-a-days is totally "Mediacentric", if Harry can keep getting feeble gigs on political TV (as the "black opposition" to Obama), the Republicans will keep stuffing money in ol' Harry's pockets.

Right and an ethics scandal on Medicaid program where elderly were dying from poor care. The Feds had to close the AK program down to protect the elderly.
The CBS affiliate in Raleigh, WRAL-TV, reports that sources close to John Edwards expect the ex-Senator and former presidential candidate to admit that he is indeed the father of his former mistress Rielle Hunter's child.
It's unclear exactly when he would admit this, but the station's sources said it could occur before the end of the current criminal investigation into whether Edwards illegally paid Hunter money from his campaign. The central allegation is that hush money was funneled to Hunter in order to keep her from revealing the affair.
Edwards admitted in the summer of 2008 that he did in fact have the affair with Hunter, but strongly denied that he was the father of her child. Hunter had previously stated that the father of her child was a former Edwards staffer, Andrew Young.

Article entitled is Should Stupid be a protected class?
Recently, in two separate conversations, I heard senior Democratic officials remark that they were taken aback by the right's distortions in the health care debate. My initial reaction was surprise: What did they expect? We've seen this before. But I'm coming around to their point of view.
Exhibit number one is the treatment of Eziekel Emanuel, the distinguished oncologist and bioethicist who is working on health reform at the Office of Management and Budget. In the course of his writings, which span academia and popular publications, he has argued forcefully and clearly against physician-assisted suicide. Yet somehow Emanuel finds himself accused of--wait for it--advocating physician assisted suicide.
... The attack on Emanuel is part of a broader offensive--an effort to persuade anxious Americans that health reformers will harm people who are seriously ill or who have disabilities. The argument seems to be resonating with at least some Americans. Whether it's a lot or a few is impossible to say from the television images. But even a few would be a few too many.
Every year, millions of families struggle to get affordable medical care for themselves or their loved ones--and end up in financial ruin, going without medical care, or some combination of the two. Many of these cases involve diseases like cerebral palsy or Parkinson's--or other conditions that require ongoing, expensive care.
Insurance companies try their best to avoid taking on these people. Apply for an indivdiual policy with one of these pre-existing conditions and an insurer will reject you if it can. If it can't--if, say, you're lucky enough to get coverage through an employer--you may well find the insurance doesn't cover what you need.
Changing that isn't merely a by-product of reform. It's the whole point of reform. The plan Obama and his allies support would make coverage avialable to everybody regardless of pre-existing medical conditions. It would require insurers to cover a broad range of medical servcies. And it would police insurers to make sure they didn't try to get around those requirements. No less important, the health reform measures moving through Congress have special provisions within them to help people with disabilities, like the Community Living Assistance and Services and Supports (CLASS) Act that disability community advocates support strongly.
It'd be one thing if the lunatics on the right had a coherent argument for why these initiatives might be ineffective or counterproductive. But they don't even bother to acknowledge them, preferring instead to throw out scare quotes like this one from Palin: "Who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course."
Of course, not all conservatives stoop to this level. You can have a rational, if still contentious, deate over health reform with the likes of Stuart Butler (who studies health policy at the Heritage Foundation) or Gail Wilensky (who ran Medicare for George H.W. Bush). But Butler, Wilensky, and others like them aren't driving the conversation right now. Palin, Bachmann, and their allies are.
We're stuck in what Josh Marshall has called a "nonsense feedback loop"--a conversation in which Zeke Emanuel wants to kill grandma, health care reform is bad for the people who can't get health care, and Stephen Hawking has been snuffed out by the British National Health System. Instead of arguments that are unrelated to reality, we're getting arguments that are the very opposite of reality.
Like I said, maybe those Democratic officials are right. Maybe this really is worse than what we've seen before
.... It's tempting to think that President Obama, with an electoral mandate, reasonably strong approval ratings, and a like-minded Congress, can have any kind of health care reform package he wants. The White House would draw certain lines in the sand -- a bill with no public option, for example, would draw a veto -- and lawmakers would follow his lead.
But Ezra Klein noted yesterday that FDR, Truman, Nixon, Carter, and Clinton all tried to reform health care, and all of them came up short. "[I]t's not a matter of presidential messaging, or toughness, or will, or strategy," Ezra said, adding, "The executive simply has limited power here."
Matt Yglesias agrees.
I know a lot of people on the left who seem to have voted for Barack Obama because they liked his progressive agenda, then gotten excited when Obama won the election because they liked his progressive agenda, then Obama proposed progressive measures to the congress and they were excited, then it turned out that key congressional players like Collin Peterson and Rick Boucher and Max Baucus were less left-wing than Obama so actually legislative outcomes would be considerably less left-wing than Obama's campaign proposal. It's all well and good to be disappointed with this situation but it doesn't make a ton of sense to me to do what a lot of people seem to be doing and becoming disappointed with Obama. [...]
On foreign policy and some other matters the president has tons of discretion and it's a different story. But big-picture domestic legislation in the modern era is controlled by Congress.
And Congress isn't designed to be an especially constructive branch.
There are a whole host of institutional obstacles to health care reform, including a timid congressional majority, a reactionary congressional minority, an easily-misled public, and a media that's reluctant to sort out fact from fiction when outlets aren't just passing along what both sides of an argument have to say.
The president has taken on a daunting challenge, and I hope he realized what he was getting himself into. But in the bigger picture, while Obama brings some tremendous skills and qualities to the process, what reaches his desk isn't entirely up to him.
whiterosebuddy
"The president has taken on a daunting challenge, and I hope he realized what he was getting himself into."
Why is it about Obama vs. Congress? Congress is where their ire needs to be aimed!
Obama TOLD them during the campaign. He was only ONE person but he needed US and Congress, who we elect, to get on board. He said if they send the bills he will sign them.
This is OUR problem not Obama's!! It is his by default...our failure to have representation that will DO what we need and send bills to him that he will support.
WE need to get busy and stop blaming Obama!

The icons appeared to be religious, about Jesus..birth of Christ and the resurrection.
President Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, who appeared on the national radar during the 2008 presidential campaign amid reports that she was living illegally in the United States, spoke out Thursday against rumors about the president's citizenship.
Addressing debunked speculation that Obama's mother may have given birth to him in Kenya, Onyango called it inconceivable that the president was born anywhere but Hawaii.
"If my brother was in [the] United States, in Hawaii - Honolulu, Hawaii - when Barack was born, and he wasn't in Kenya, who gave birth to Barack in Kenya?" she told WKYC in Cleveland. "Ann [Obama's mother] is an American white woman. Where was she? How could she have given Barack birth in Kenya?"

Obama is not oppressed.

Of course he is a brotha, what?!?!. Thats irrelevant the point is negotiations can only be judged when they are finished. Only a foul gloats during.
Reader JP just alerted me to an email blast from a group called "The Pray In Jesus Name Project." It suggests that ObamaCare will not only pull the plug on grandma, but also result in a gay and transgendered takeover of the entire health care system. Among the bogus claims in the group's petition:
Your tax-dollars will pay for preferential hiring of homosexual hospital administrators, who distribute $50,000 grants to gender-confused activists for unneeded elective surgery to mutilate their own genitals, (and force Christian doctors to perform it.)
The group attempts to back this up by citing drafts of the House and Senate bills that make fleeting references to gender and sexual orientation, but which have nothing to do with mandated free sex-change operations. (PolitiFact, The St. Petersberg Times fact-checking service, does a great job debunking these allegations, many of which were put forth by Liberty Counsel--a group affiliated with Jerry Falwell's Liberty University.)
As for the gay takeover of hospitals? The section of the Senate bill that's cited--requiring the "participation in the institutions' programs of individuals and groups from ...different genders and sexual orientations"--actually refers to government grants awarded to students doing research in mental and behavioral health. I suppose that such a dangerously diverse group of students could decide that they, the gay mafia, should run the nation's hospitals, whose names will be "changed from ‘St. Luke's Memorial' to the ‘Obama Government' hospital" when atheists strip all Christian icons from the buildings, as the email predicts. But, then again, that's absolutely crazy.
(Seen any other loopy ads trying to demonize ObamaCare--ones that no one's talking about yet? Email them to me: skhimm at tnr dot com.)
Looking at the "memo"I have one question .Why is the font of the date July 7 different from the rest of the text?Beware of the big lie.
TruthSeeker
That's irrelevant to me... The point is there WAS a deal. Why not release the details? Why the secrecy, the gameplaying?
whiterosebuddy
Yeah, there was a deal, so what? What difference does it make, politics is always about deal..how is this administration any different. Judge the outcome, not the making of the stew!!
karlewis
Its the difference between Strategy and Tactics
whiterosebuddy
Yes. The strategy is health insurance reform. The tactic is co opting the most powerful interest groups.
TruthSeeker
No, the idea is to make sure the stew is made properly; you can't un-make a stew.
whiterosebuddy
You might not be able to unmake the stew..but it is important what goes into the stew.
djchefron
So if a so called memo was photoshopped and a forgery release by healthcare lobbyist that's irrelevant? You sound like Dan Burton shooting watermelons to prove a murder.
TruthSeeker
You're missing the point.. The focus is: what deal did Obama make. There HAS to be a deal of some kind. The lobbyist has produced a document. If it is a forgery, then the ball is in Obama admin's court. They must say it is false, they must release the details of the supposed authentic deal.
If the strategy you suggest is correct, then that would mean the Pharma lobby is calling Obama's bluff. What you are suggesting, implies there is something in the actual deal that might be damaging to Obama, and they are calling his bluff.
whiterosebuddy
they didn't call his bluff...he co opted them for his GOALS!!
pay attention...stop second guessing...you elected a leader..let him LEAD!

Why lie with dogs? All you get is fleas. There is no final bill. While everyone is flailing about, remember we want him to fail, just take a deep breath and wait for the final bill. And then if its flawed President Obama and the Democrats will hear about it.
whiterosebuddy
Precisely. There is no final bill...Obama is making sausage.
Wait and see what the outcome is. Will the outcome be to your likeing? Who knows...but what you do know is, there was no hope it might even approach your liking with Bush.
So sit back, relax, and KNOW you are going to get FAR more than you would have EVER got with the GOP!!
Man, I hate these chicken littles.
djchefron
Release by a health care lobbyist.Call me sceptical but it sounds like more propaganda.

If Obama team has a conflicting document, then he should produce it...and stop the double talk.
Admiral_Komack

lamh32
If the WH is saying there is no deal, then how would producing a conflicting document help to stop the double tallk?
What would the document say? There is no deal?
TruthSeeker
There HAS to be a deal. Do you really believe Pharma gave up 80 billion for nothing?
lamh32
No I don't, but people are releasing "memo" about a plan that does not even have a final draft. Their are what 5 different drafts of the bill, including the one in the Finance Comittee, which has not even been written yet. People are fighting over what they think will be in the bill, because there is no actual bill yet.
I don't consider this all to be the administrations fault, cause Congress are there to write legislation but they can't seem to come up with a good one, so it's time for the Prez to just signal which version of the bill he endorses.
All these leaks are just fuelin the fire of misinformation because no one truly knows what the final bill will look like.
I'm with the school of thought that the Congress should just have an emergency session, and get back to DC and get this shit done.
whiterosebuddy
Tell it!! Break it down!

Please read the whole article, not just the title:
In a NYT op-ed bemoaning the trivialization and sexism still plaguing our Secretary of State, Judith Warner references the ill-conceived joke from the WaPo's now-defunct "Mouthpiece Theater" that, basically, called Hillary a bitch. (Full disclosure: I'm close friends with the often inflammatory Mr. Milbank.)
Obviously, the gag was offensive, and it should have come as no shock to anyone at the WaPo when a bunch of women went ballistic over it. But the entire episode got me wondering if, more generally, it's time for women to reclaim the "bitch" label--perhaps even start taking pride in it.
Seriously. As often as not, when men in particular call a woman a bitch, it simply means she's a tough broad who isn't giving them their way, the poor little dears. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the workplace, where the strong-male-leader vs. bitchy-female-leader double-standard still holds sway. But it also plays a recurring role in relationship squabbles, when a guy thinks his woman is getting too uppity for his comfort. Regardless of which gender deploys it, the word tends to say more about the user's irritation with the existing power dynamic than anything else. (Think: I can't believe that bitch stole my boyfriend.)
I've never really minded being called a bitch. (Unlike, say, a cunt, which aims to reduce an entire person to a sexual organ--although, to be fair, I find "dickhead" pretty hysterical, so maybe I'm working my own double standard here.) Why? Because Tina Fey is dead-on with that whole bitches-get-stuff-done riff. The word may (as yet) be a slur, but it is a slur that implies strength or power or, yes, a willingness to be mean. I can think of countless worse characterizations of "the weaker sex."
Rise up, ladies: The next time someone calls you a bitch, just flash 'em your biggest, most sincere smile and say, "Thanks, Dickhead."
whiterosebuddy
"The word may (as yet) be a slur, but it is a slur that implies strength or power or, yes, a willingness to be mean. I can think of countless worse characterizations of "the weaker sex."
Maybe so, but bitch nevertheless is a derogatory connotation for strength and as such should be unacceptable. Just as being called 'my nigga/er is derogatory for being black and with whatever cause.
You HAVE to have POSITIVE terms for strength and 'keepingitreal' co-opting the negative does nothing more but empower the negative while those who have done so are under the delusion that it actually means something different.
While those who use it derogatorially get away with the nasty slur!
TruthSeeker
I dunno if Hillary is a good model for feminism...
Being downright nasty is romaticized as being strong, or "bitchy".

Listen Up, Lou Dobbs: “Socialist” and the N-Word
By Carlos Watson | August 12th, 2009
The emails, the tweets, they just keep coming—my comment about the word “socialist” yesterday on my daily 11 am show, MSNBC Live with Carlos Watson, struck more than a nerve with a number of conservatives. Let me take a second and explain what I said, because most of the folks sounding off, including Lou Dobbs, clearly heard only what they wanted to—or didn’t watch the whole video, which was all of about 2 minutes long.
In the increasingly ugly health care debate, “socialist” has come to have a few different meanings. There is the actual style of governing—and critiques of Obama’s health care effort on those grounds are certainly legit. The word has also been stripped of that clinical definition and used merely as a conservative bludgeoning tool—no different than when those on the left say “right-wing nut.” That’s okay, too. To be clear: I think those two uses of “socialist” are the vast majority and are fine. But after listening to many of the birthers, as well as ugly voices at some of the GOP town halls (where the idea of lynching recently seemed to be applauded), I wondered—let me repeat that: wondered—whether “socialist” was being used as a code word for the N-word, an outlet for racist anxiety and anger.
Over the last 24 hours, I’ve been accused both of trying to silence dissent and race bait. I am interested in neither. Various e-mailers have said they don’t think anyone has literally meant the N-word. Maybe they’re right. But maybe not; just take a look at the hundreds of comments on YouTube. Either way, responsible people need to not kid themselves: there is clearly some meaningful racial animus behind some of the opposition to President Obama. (Again, I said some—not all or a majority.) Pretending otherwise is hypocritical, negligent, and dangerous.
Again, I am certainly not arguing that criticism is inappropriate, or that critiques using the word socialist are necessarily out of bounds. We’ve seen the word used before, against Hillary Clinton in 1994, LBJ three decades before and many others. But I am saying to responsible citizens and especially responsible leaders: wake up. Get serious. Stop coddling out of bounds critiques like the Birthers’. Responsible conservatives and GOP leaders need to step forward and forcefully and unequivocally call these guys out when they cross the line from legitimate substantive criticism or even fair political hacking to something more insidious. Even if they’re met with the same reception that GOP Senator Johnny Isakson was recently, they have a moral obligation to push forward.
Why? The words used in public debates matter—they can ratchet into action and action can become deadly and violent. That was true in part with Timothy McVeigh, as it was with Jenny Jones years ago and Nancy Grace more recently. Those of us in the media, elected leaders and yes, every day citizens, have a duty not to let important debates descend into mob insanity and thinly coded hate. This isn’t just a problem on the right. Indeed, I don’t remember a lot of liberals standing up when George W. Bush was burned in effigy or assassinated in a film.
Still, when a man shows up to protest a president’s visit with a gun strapped to his leg, it’s a warning call to conservative leaders. Irresponsible words, as well as a failure to draw moral lines against those who act irresponsibly, can descend quickly and put our democracy at risk. How long will it be until others begin wearing guns at these events? What happens then, not just to our elected officials, but to others in the crowd? We all have a duty to demand that those in the media and in office speak responsibly in this national dialogue. Ann Coulter deserves some credit in this instance—she’s criticized Obama’s health care effort as socialist while calling out Birther nonsense. Mitt Romney should do the same. So should John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Steele and Sarah Palin. It’s time to speak up.
It’s time to make sure we have a constructive, honest, even contentious dialogue—not an immoral, dangerous, or violent one. And I’m happy to do my part. Are you, Lou Dobbs?
Do you agree with me? Disagree? Please post a comment on below. I will be sharing my reaction to your thoughts on the air as they come in—the good, the bad, even the disapproving.

The Patriot Act defines Domestic Terrorism as:
(5) the term "domestic terrorism" means activities that— (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; (B) appear to be intended— (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
To "engage in terrorist activity" is defined as committing, inciting to commit or planning and preparing to undertake an act of terrorism

Why is everyone surprised? Posters here have called for those so opposed to President Obama on racial terms to just go ahead and say NIGGER. Many in the hope just saying it would be cathartic and these people would just go away exhausted and hopefully conscious of their racism. We have watched Katy Abrams and Craig Miller exhaust themselves in anger only to expose themselves as ignorant of the subject which they say inflames them. "Czars", "turning into Russia", returning to the country of the constitutional founding Fathers, etal. I think both of them would say NIGGER and look even more sheepish and foolish than they have already presented themselves. So I say what I have said before join the NRA and learn a proper use of firearms. This is not to defend against attack. It is for protecting that which is valuable.

I watched this; the commentator could have easily slaughtered this little lamb.
Over all the interview was kinda worthless and added nothing to the "dialogue" Lets count the red flags:
1) Doesn't want to answer questions (ill-informed or afraid to commit)
2) Doesn't know how much money family business makes. Wrong on so many levels Cant tell if they get a tax cut or tax increase but the amount of tax paid out is "ridicules". Without knowledge of the situation, she claims this is the source of all her and her families frustration and "the straw that broke the camel's back" Husband takes care of bills and "thats all that matters". I think the potential for a rude awakening is high. I hope he's not an inbreed moron. But then again a major health crisis (which WILL happen) will change all that "I dont know nuttin bout birth'n no babies Miss Scarlet" facade.
3)The gender relationship within family points to a traditional, christian and rural formation. Please note the prominent display of the crucifix
4) Denial of perspective "Its not about left or right..." but in the same sentence launches into talking points (country ripped apart/turned into Russia/Socialist country)
Think this was her (one) trick pony as she used this statement to preface the (obviously loaded) question in an attempt to add an air of reasonability.
5) The family dose not have health insurance!!!! They have a health savings plan. The son most likely had a (small) broken arm If the son would have required a surgical procedure, they would be looking a a $15 to $25 thousand dollar hit. I would bet a dollar she would know how much money they don't have after that.
6) When asked about single payer/Medicare, the response is "we don't talk politics" I disagree: someone has been "talking politics" and tried to put this square peg in a round hole.
7) She "didn't really care" about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She watched the show with her father (family structure thing)
8) She really cant handle the "back to the Founding Father" argument. Can we also bring back Capitalist slavery and repeal the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. How about suffrage?
9) She presents a fundamental Christian altruism as an alternative to universal healthcare and a single payer system. This may work for bake sales and used clothes for fire victims, but major stroke, CP, transplants, or at this point, prophylactic care, think again. I wanna yard sale for enlarged prostates.
10) She saw Obama on TV!!!!! Years ago... talking about socialized medicine... A junior senator from Illinois. With ALL the research dilberts out there, one would think that clip would be EVERYWHERE.
Im sure I could continue, but I think I may be getting boring...
The only thing real or genuine I saw from this woman is the cognitive dissonance cracking through when she states we seem to have always been at war; its become commonplace. Or the idea to repeal Social Security and Medicare. I also think Lawrence saw it as well and really backed off.
This is the guns and religion clinging and unfortunately, the state of conservative america, as scary as that is. Everyone of you needs to do what EVERY YOU CAN to stay on message and not let people like this change what we need to get done
STEP UP!!!!

"
"The family dose not have health insurance!!!!"
Not sure if this is so. Don't you need a health plan to have an HSA? Generally, that is just a pre-tax deductibility and not sure if you can have that withOUT a health insurance plan. Can you?
here's what I found:
To be eligible for a Health Savings Account, an individual must be covered by a HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and must not be covered by other health insurance that is not an HDHP. Certain types of insurance are not considered “health insurance” (see below) and will not jeopardize your eligibility for an HSA.
I think this woman has LOTs of money and has NO CONCERN about healthcare insurance reform...she just wanted to emphasize that THEY are PAYING for themselves!!
IIRC, she skipped answering whether she had insurance and simply said she has an HSA.

I think Lawrence O'Donnell didn't slaughter her because she was doing a good job of heading into the chop house all by herself.
Did you catch how she claimed she saw Obama on TV back in 2002 talking about socialized medicine?
Sooooooooo she never paid attention to politics until "just now" but she saw Obama on TV talking about socialized medicine in 2002. (then an IL state senator, not even on the national scene and who definitely wouldn't have been on TV in Pennsylvania)
Um, ok.
TruthSeeker
Oh god..I think I'm in love. I had hoped it would be Chris, the reamer who'd interview her...but O'Donnell did a great job. This woman seems like a planted actor..nobody can be that naturally ditzy.
Doesn't this man have the most exquisite way of speaking? I really think inside Poitier, lives a poet... It was a joy listening to him on Larry King.
The pics got me choked up...this dirt poor boy from the Caribbean...
caligirl
i loved the look he gave president obama before they hugged. precioso!

I posted Carlos Watson's piece on Socialist being the new N-word in the Thursday thread, and it disappeared. I thought maybe it was an error, so I posted it again in this thread and it disappeared again. What happened?
whiterosebuddy
I saw it and commented on it. It's there.
TruthSeeker
Maybe god is trying to tell you something?
rikyrah
it's not me or any of the other moderators here. I didn't disappear your post. if this happens again, please email me the link at mamahelena@aol.com.
i was interested in that post, so if you can find the clip, please email me the link. ..not only for this, but any other stories that interest you.
Sepia
Thanks, Rikyrah. I know it wasn't intentional. I know you guys don't roll like that. :-) I'll definitely try again. Dude hit the nail on head.
morphus
The same had been happening to me for more than a week. I found that some type of filtering is going on. So a word like the n-word or whatever else deem objectionable is completely spelled out the post disappears without a complaint. Also, the http string may cause problems.
Justice58
Sepia,
I am having problems as well. I can make a post and it disappears and kicks me off line! *Sigh*
TruthSeeker
That's terrible.

President Obama will have a conference call next Wednesday with religous leaders regarding health care.
This should be interesting. Haven't heard anything from them. I want to hear what they consider to be the "Christian Prospective" on healthcare reform. (mainly the far right)
Visit NPR, the tease said the #HRC debate is pulling the religious community in two. Some focused on abortion, others debate the ethics of not caring abt the uninsured. I did not hear the story.
whiterosebuddy
Yeah right. Those folks always pulled in two..between sane and insane.
TruthSeeker
Maybe they're too busy railing against teh gays. They might be a good ally for the President if they can call the lack of universal coverage immoral.
Texas_Girl_in_LA
That's what I'm wondering, Truth

Major Garrett being a d$#% again. He was saying that he got emails from people who got the Axelrod email who had not signed up on whitehouse.gov or OFA website. Gibbs interrupted him and Garrett acted all offended when Gibbs called him on his ish.
Then when Gibbs said he would need the name of the people to check. And Garrett was all why should i give you the names? Then Gibbs was like WTF how else am I to check? And then Garrett is all why should I have to give you these names all indignant like? And then Gibbs was all STFU I'm going to a more constructive question.
I wouldn't ask ClusterFox another question.
Edit: You know those people Garrett was talking about are pro'ly lying.
caligirl
garrett is essentially an ass. but, he seems to be the only 'journalist' who comes prepared. most times, he seems like he actually does his homework and gives some thought to formulating his questions beforehand. in other words, he doesn't tend to ask the same lame ass questions over and over and over and over....
TruthSeeker
I don't think Gibbs handled it well. Really, he could have just said he can't go solely on Garrett's word..he would have to take a look at it to determine what's what. Gibbs has a way of looking like he's dodging questions...more like trying to squirm out of things...like he really doesn't want to be bothered. It doesn't inspire confidence.
Micheline
Agreed but I also think that he cannot really determine anything if Major Garret gave him the names.
RobM
I agree w/ you. I can't decide if he is weak sauce or he despite all his training can't bring himself to defend an AfricanAmerican.
I actually like Robert Gibbs, and do not doubt his loyalty to President Barack Obama. To me is reactions come across as an avg guy, he certainly does not seem to be some polished communications expert. That can be a weakness at times, but also I think he is similar to Obama who can get frustrated with the Washington media games.
BTW did you see Jon Stewart's riff on Obama 's sighing suggested he'd be the first president to impeach the American people. It was pretty funny.
caligirl
gibbs has grown on me too.
RobM
I only catch Stewart when someone posts something. TV has become a not watch event for me. I can't stand the implausiblity of most programs, and sports has becomes we will tell you what you're watching and babble to make sure you don't stray from the party line.
whiterosebuddy
Yeah, I saw that! First President to wonder if the American people meet with approval!!! hahahahahaha...it was great!
I agree with you Gibbs is on point. Just always put to the test and not knowing how to handle it. Give the guy a break..he is new on the job too.
RobM
I won't give the guy a break. He is supposed to be a professional and he looks like Joe Lockhart. Instead of looking like a deer in the headlight he looks down right scared.
caligirl
who's joe lockhart...???
to me, gibbs looks like he (often) wants to step down off of that podium and slap the living SHIT outta somebody. i don't call that fear--i call it RESTRAINT.
