Tiah – Are you unaware of Obama's work in the Senate on racial profiling? He even brought up that work during the press conference so . . . how can you possibly say he never raised this problem before his “best friend” was arrested?

As a state senator, President Obama co-authored legislation on racial profiling. No doubt, he knows this issue inside-and-out.

If that question had been asked in the middle of the press conference, it may have escaped the controversy, or better yet, some of the jerk-off press corps would have done enough follow-ups for the Prez to clarify what he meant…but it was the LAST question. It was the Grand Finale! And the horses(jack asses) were off to the races with it.

Lesson Learned…see if it happens again.

That's right, and many times, they don't change from the inside out. We have anti-discrimination laws so we (supposedly) don't have to worry about the ones who don't change. My days of trying to change hearts are long past.

I don't feel he should've gotten involved at all. The situation was hadled poorly by both parties and I am disappointed that he commented in the first place without having all the “facts.”

I absolutely believe he gave what could be construed by enough people to be an apology. This is why I wish he would've made a neutral statement, one that was about educating the masses on this situation, as opposed to one that looked like he was picking sides.

I agree with everything you so eloquently said. The hard part is actually doing something in the moment. I have recently shared 2 incidents where, in the moment, I chose to get out of the situation unscathed rather than taking a stand and taking a butt whippin (with legal and financial implications). I don't believe I could win fighting the police nor do I have any community who would step up to do what I do for my children. Having more $ could possibly give me more courage. I hope I get to find out one day. Gates is more of a public figure than I will ever be. No one really cares if the police beat me up.
