I believe the dirty secret about outsourcing healthcare is that it is the next U.S. industry that will go over seas. I hate to sound like a conspiracy monger but think about it. Why are some of the biggest U.S. health insurers doing pilot programs to encourage people to travel to places like India and Thailand for electable surgeries. If you do your homework, insurers have always started out new programs with incentives and then later they become required.

Why isn't our government advertising that "for profit insurance companies" promoting overseas medical care?

Why aren't more of us citizens concerned about this trend?????

This is coming from the group who preached DE-REGULATION OF EVERY DAMN THING UNTIL you get a recession; 10% of the country (that's about 37 MILLION people) unemployed, and they want to regulate the average Joe getting a chance to see his doctor when he needs to without having to mortgage his house.

"Sicko" made me more angry that the United States clings to being "unique" while they tear up their own citizens. If you want to get scared, rent that Denzel Washington movie, "John Q" and wonder how many "John Q's" there are out there because they can't get themselves or their loved ones to a doctor without it costing the average GDPs of small countries.

It's amusing to see conservatives complaining about competition. Tell them you're opposed to vouchers, and they respond with "whatsa matter, scared of a little private sector competition"?

But when they don't run government anymore ...

Health care is expensive due to waste, mismanagement, and a whole other multitude of sins.

Having private health insurance is a problem as well, since people are denied treatment, because the company wont pay.

I have my doubts that if we are mandated to pay for health insurance that the problems with the system will change. CEOs and staff receive enormous bonuses for profits (blood money). How is there not an incentive to let a patient die so the insurance company can make money? That's as immoral as one could get.

The movie Sicko scared the crap out of me.

Why not have a default plan where everyone gets a lifetime of $1 million for health care, and another $1 million for drugs? The money could be set aside like Social Security, and all the other programs. At least there will be a cap, with all included exceptions and rules, and people can buy supplemental insurance if they desire.

All this finagling by Congress makes me suspect they are just lubing us up for the final assault.
