I can agree with that. I like Osteen too. He does a great job and I too, listen to him . :)

I listen to him on occassion. For a while in college, when I wasn't attending church regularly, I listened to him every week. I just listened to him this morning because this brought him to my mind. I guess I'm making a distiction that you may find has no difference, but what separates Huckabee and Osteen for me is that Osteen sticks to his job as a spiritual/religious leader and doesn't seem to desire to codify his religious views into law. I mean to say that I'm almost certain he wouldn't allow a marriage ceremony for a gay couple to occur at Lakewood; but, by the same token, he's not out promoting DOMA or anything. That's a difference to me. So like, even if he's a fundamentalist in his own personal beliefs, he certainly doesn't show much fundamentalism in his sermons and he's definitely not a political activist. That's why I wouldn't group him with Huckabee.

I agree with sorn about the stereotypes of minorities. And I suppose I agree with the church theory. I didn't hear it live, but Obama does have a church cadence when he speaks to black folks.

But I don't think NYTimes missed it because of the church aspect. I think they're quite stuck on the stereotypes of minorites and can't quite bring themselves to report on institutional racism.

Either that or they were playing their xboxes during the speach.

I didn't get the logic of that. Do they think planned parenthood gives $500 for each abortion? or that poor women pregnant with black babies would have abortions if they could afford it?

And what do they (Publicans) care anyway? Ain't like they wanna help take care of the child. You'd think they'd be happy to have fewer "coloreds" using affirmative action to take away good white jobs. So, at least he's not being racist like Bill Bennet. I guess.

Oh. Was I the only one who FELT the loss of Obama, but didn't feel much of anything about the loss of Thomas. But that could've been because I got stuck on "great mind" . . . of Clarence Thomas?

Did you see the comments from that Rep. from Kansas that made it seem like only the mothers of Black children (Obama and Clarence Thomas who despite all of his efforts is still considered Black) would get abortions because they were in poverty? Pathetic.

That's what I'm talking about morphus. This is the white wing media's way of putting/keeping black folks in their place via the first African American President of the United States of America.

It's like they think African Americans want to be poor and on welfare. It's as if African Americans wake up in the morning and say "I'm going to smoke crack". African Americans aren't responsible for school funding. African Americans aren't responsible for the record deficit. African American Americans aren't responsible for record mortage forclosures. African Americans aren't responsible for massive job lose or outsourcing. African Americans aren't responsible for any of the problems facing them but they are disproposionalty affected by the problems. So this "tell African Americans to mtake more responsiblity for their lives" is bull spin.

The first black US president, Barack Obama, has clattered up through the glass ceiling to set another milestone. For the first time in its 50-year history, Marine One helicopter uses all-female crew to fly US president. The helicopter took Obama on the first leg of a trip from the White House to New York for a speech to one of the country's largest black organisations.

The helicopter trip took Obama to Andrews air force base, from where he flew north to campaign for the Democratic governor of New Jersey and to tell African Americans to take more responsibility for their lives.
