For what I know (personally) and by what I read of stories about others' treatment by insurance companies people are already being denied hip surgeries, chemo therapy, or some other kind of treatment by their own insurance providers. By being told it's a unnecessary procedure, or that it's a pre-condition so it doesn't apply to your insurance, or that the person's insurance just doesn't cover those cost.

So all this worrying that some have of being denied a procedure IS ALREADY GOING ON (TODAY, YESTERDAY) BY INSURANCE COMPANIES and is pretty ridiculous to now use for public option.

And insurance companies are already in between you and your doctors when they won't cover the cost for a treatment you need.

Of course we will need taxes, but the rich won't be the only ones paying higher taxes for health care. Middle class, lower class, homeless, and even illegal immigrates will be paying taxes as THEY DO NOW. Everything you buy, sell, use, wear, eat, drink, hear, and watch are taxed. So this non sense of 'free lunch' that we or the wealthy will have no such of to allow us to have a CHOICE at a public option is again a ridiculous notion because WE ALREADY ARE DOING THESE THINGS BUT ARE NOT GETTING ANYTHING FOR IT.

Any public plan plan whose primary goal is to keep costs low will ultimately lead to rationing and limited access to expensive or experimental treatments. The wealthy will be able to pay out of pocket but others will see the government take over the role of denying hip surgery to an 80 year old patient.

Funding healthcare for all from just the wealthy will not work. Everyone must pay. Taxes must be raised on all Americans. There is no such thing as a 'free lunch' and if the middle-class wants government-run healthcare they should be willing to pay for it. With their contributions we can have a better chance of providing health security to all Americans while without rationing or stifling innovation.
