Ok, I watched it, and I have to agree with Justice. She came at him pretty hard. No, she didn't explicitly call him a racist, but I don't think she had to do that in order to push back effectively. I think one of the best things about that interview was her calmly, silently, letting him hang himself with those sports metaphors.

That said, it doesn't negate what I said above-ultimetely, we're on our own.

Just like most others, if she feels she doesn't have any skin in the game, she's not going to be inspired. I don't know if I want to a lot of time raging at her, or anyone like her, rather than just reflecting on what it shows-ultimately, we're on our own, and that's probably not a bad thing.

I saw it. He was talking to Pat like he was dumb as hell! LOL. That brotha reminded me so much of my dad and how for 30 years in an upper management job he has had to handle these white boys who can't deal with having a boss who's black. You just stay calm and let them implode, they always do.

He showed Pat for the old bigoted fool he is.

I don't watch the Rachel Maddow Show. I only watched tonight because of the well-billed prize fight with Pat Buchannan. Maybe Rachel was not at her best tonight, maybe Rachel was not prepared — whatever. I was not impressed by her performance. Any intelligent black woman or black man that posts on this site would have done much much better tonight than Rachel. ( And I include Wordsmith in that category.)

Rachel is a privileged white woman, and she came off across as such. She didn't take Pat Buchannan down. He dominated her. Rachel gave the typical weak, spineless white liberal yuckety yuck. Drive away in your limo and rake in your million dollar salary, Rachel. I am so through with you.

Republican Meltdown On Race

. . Racially-tinged inferences, snide liberal bashing and the shameless pandering to anti-intellectual sentiment that once won the day for Republicans are now falling flat. The Sotomayor nomination has proved to be yet another test case for the efficacy of traditional conservative attack lines.

Republicans might have hoped to use this hearing to put limits on how far the President can safely go in picking liberals for future openings. Instead, they showcased just how narrow and out of touch their political base has become. . . . Until Republicans get past calling 1-800-HATE there will be fewer and fewer voters on the other end of the line.

In his remarks, he went on about how judges don't make the law, that elected representatives do, and if citizens don't like those laws, and the results of those laws, they shouldn't depend on the justice system, they should vote out the elected officials. Or something like that. The pizza man rang my doorbell, so I missed part of it.
